Hospital based clinics tend to not be as comfortable. Have a sleep study for possible sleep apnea. If you do in fact have it, then a second study will be required where you would try cpap (continuous possitive airway pressure). Using a cpap has made a huge difference in many peoples lives. I know this because I am a registered polysomnographer. |

When I had it, I was dreaming I was gasping for breath, which continued till I woke. It was really frightening, and considering I was asleep, I was quite aware what was happening. |
Shinboner User ID: 1442658 Australia 09/24/2011 05:54 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Don't fret dude. Get yourself to a doctor and have a sleep study done though. I have it and I'm 50kgs (120pounds) over weight. Need to get leaner for sure, but I'm wearing a CPAP mask and sleeping well. Without it I have hardly any oxygen going to my brain.... Get a CPAP. If you have sleep apneaits very hard to lose weight because you're always tired, so you eat for energy and are always too tired to exersise. The research shows that you've got very little chance of losing the weight unless your apnea is treated. I'm 40 and still alive (and have only had the cpap for a few years) so don't stress, just get some treatment and take care of yourself!!! |

JATMON User ID: 7518028 United States 01/13/2012 10:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Now that I'm nearly certain I have apnea, which resulted in a dangerous BP problem this week already, I'm afraid to go to sleep this weekend for fear it will happen again. Not to mention there's nothing the least bit cute or charming about a female with a snoring problem. Good thing I sleep alone. If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take, and all that. Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid, it is true that most stupid people are conservative. Anonymous Coward User ID: 4614732 United States 01/13/2012 11:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sleep apnea is serious and does kill people in their 20's, depends on how long and how severe it is (how many times per hour you have a non-conscious sleep interruption.) If you can, have a sleep study to determine the severity and specifics. Then you can get a cpap machine and that will prevent the loads of stress put on your heart when you stop breathing. The cpap makes a huge difference in your day-to-day energy and how you feel. I used a digital recording device to record my breathing while I slept to see if I had it before I went for the sleep study so I knew it was bad, but you have to have the sleep study to get the prescription for the cpap machine. You could just buy one on ebay, but you need the study to determine the correct pressure and other settings for the machine. |

Ingrid User ID: 4555812 United States 01/14/2012 12:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No, there is a reason. You need the specialist and he/she will know what you need.. you can get a C Pap machine, which makes sure you get your oxygen. If you drink heavily, and smoke, it makes this worse. Also, if you are extra overtired. Also, when you have children, make sure they get enough minerals in womb so that the structure of the face, jaw, teech, arch are all wide enough, this means you need to change the dietary habits becauuse we have all had calcium deficiency and magnesium which makes this facial structure which results in breathing problems, narrow faces, malformed jaws, weak jaws, bad alignment of teeth, not enough room for teeth to be straight, and crowding, small teeth, demineralized (easy cavities) teeth, brittle teeth, bones, and all that stuff. If we learn this stuff, we will suffer less, and what we don't know and don't have, (natural diets, health) does hurt the children we have, and they grow up to have this and so many other preventable problems. many people today have this problem, due to this. Please see about sleep disorder clinics, and C-Pap or C- Pak machines, many kinds. Sorry, but this can be deadly, and it is fully preventable, with that machine. I will pray to Yah for you to get what you need for this. and this won't last long, everything is going down, as you can see. |
Girl Genius User ID: 1133676 United States 01/14/2012 12:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sleep apnea can be life threatening. I used to work in a sleep clinic, so trust me on that. You need to have a sleep study and probably get fitted with a CPAP, at least until you lose weight. Not only can sleep apnea be deadly, it can result in cognitive decline if left untreated. Get a consult as soon as possible. In the meantime, avoid sleeping on your back and cut out alcohol for the time being. For nothing is secret that will not be revealed… |
