knowing the film says its the sun also the bible does to ... so it will be the sun that destroyed us ... maybe elenin will cause some serious flares to tare shit up ...

Shit! That's the doom that scares me the most. I'd rather try my luck with global earthquakes and tsunamis.

I dont know for sure, but all seems to be falling into place, this sunspot is the biggest I can remember this cycle, and definitely the most active. I dont know if its Elenin,or just a cycle, but if you link this with all the "information" which agencies have issued, well makes a lot of sens. I reffer to the recent NASA statements, especially the one about knowing more about how solar activity interacts with the earth, and being able to almost pre-empt their forming! Maybe we have been given warnings, but we did not know? Anyways just keep watching.

We've had 1 X class flare since 2006...until this year. 2011 we've had five or six.

Thanks mate. I dont really buy into the Elenin thing, but dont want to upset the Elenintards! Sure is an interesting time though as you said with or without external help..Shes a cooking!

This latest class M flare looks like another 'long duration' type.

I'll bump again for you. It is truly a shame that people care more about petty things like elenin and UARS, and yet the greatest object in our existence seems to not even matter to them. I will surely hope this thread gets its deserved PIN!

Hence the whole cycle thing. Sun goes through active and inactive cycles. The fact you bring up would be valid if we weren't entering the active part of the 11 year cycle. Look up how many x class there were at the last active cycle.

Well, the Sun is certainly more plausible. Problem being, how the heck would they have known or made plans ahead of time concerning this one sunspot. There's no way they could have known it was going to form or that it would end up being Earth-facing. Yes, we're heading towards solar maximum, but I don't think we have the ability to predict when/where/size of sun spots.

Nice bit of Northern absorption there. Hope nothing happens as it swings by Alaska, given the regions' tendency for large EQs.

I think this is how Piers Corbyn is able to predict the weather weeks, even months in advance.
The cycles repeat themselves. He uses data going back 100 years or more to forcast what is happening now, based on solar activity modulated by the moon.

Like I just mentioned, this may well be possible. cycles repeat.

There was a thread a while back about NASAs press meeting where they said they had a lot more information now about how the sun reacts and where and when CMEs/Flares were forming. I will look for it now.
