with the economy at depression levels, a house of 2,000 sq ft on 5 acres should cost no more than $50,000 as house prices today are way over inflated.

I laugh at people that are asking $200,000 + for a 3bdrm house on 2 acres.

I think people tend to forget how cheap homes were before the bubble. And it's not just because of inflation. My parents bought 10 acres and a house for 40k back in the 80's. In todays dollars that would be 80k. GOOD LUCK finding 10 acres and a house for 80k today. 80k doesn't even get you something livable anymore. You have to go to 100k if you want a house that is liveable and that is in a crappy neighborhood in town with no land. What is keeping the prices of homes so inflated?
