In the south, girls are pressured into marrying young so they can have sex. They aren't taught about birth control so the fear of getting pregnant hangs over their head. They're told if they want to have sex they have to get married. So, they get married young. Then they grow up and realize their mistake and get out. Very common in the south and even more so in evangelical communities.
