bsflag I did it on all cheap food, and to let you in on a secret low carb, high fat high protein is the way to go, and most the time i ate 1200-1400 calories a day and excercised rigorously, because I did not want to be a fat person any longer. Sure I was very hungry alot of the time, but it didnt matter because I didnt want to be fat. But the good thing is as you get leaner the body gets more efficient which means, you guessed it, it no longer requires as many calories you do not crave food as much which means.....less money being spent on food. so I call your post bullshit.

I agree with you on the low carb, high fat, high protein diet -- I lost 80lbs by doing that and working out. Having said that, meat is NOT cheap, nor is protein shakes, fresh vegetables, quality fats, etc.

And for the record, OP, I literally gained 80lbs in one year "thanks" to meds. I worked out 6 days a week for an hour, ate as clean as I possibly could, ate entirely at home and food I made myself, and I still GAINED 80 lbs in one year. No pop, no artificial sweeteners, no HFCS, etc.

When I got off the meds, it took 6 months before shedding the first pound. I added in weight training, did a 24 hour fast once a week (lunch to lunch, drinking only water and tea), and cut my carbs to 20g plus one "refeeding" day, and the 80 lbs was history. I have never worked so hard and consistently at anything in my life...but it was NOWHERE near as "easy" as you make it seem.

The OP is in a dead-end job. You don't leave recruiting. It's a punishment. He likely will never even make it to officer training, which means he will forever spend his days behind a desk, lying to people to make his commission out of fear of further punishment.

He's a sad man, who is acting out because he likely realizes that he'll have to separate from the Army (maybe not even honorably, if he's there for botching something) if he ever intends on making something of himself.

Re: Fat is not ok.
I've been overweight ever since I was a little girl. My diet has not been much different from my family's, but they are not overweight.

Earlier this year, I was diagnosed with fructose malabsorption--my small intestine can't digest fructose. My small intestine passes fructose along to the colon, where it gets converted to gasses and fatty acids. So most fruit and vegetables and all wheat products make me fat.

Now that I'm aware of my condition, I've been avoiding most fruit, vegetables, all wheat products--and I've lost 45 lbs since March.

I've had to live 50 years before receiving this diagnosis. I suffer from circulation problems and foot problems from all of those years of obesity.

It's estimated that 30% of the US public suffers from this intestinal disorder, yet many medical professionals are unaware of its existence.

Re: Fat is not ok.
Many people are on a strict food budget. They are not able to buy sound nutritional foods. Vegetables & fruit, especially fresh ones, are expensive. Meat consists of high-fat content hamburger and chicken leg quarters, if they are lucky. The vast majority of the foods consumed are high fat, high sugar, high starch, high carbohydrate items.

In addition, many people who are overweight have real nutritional deficiencies. As a result, they start to have health problems, metabolic syndrome, and eventally diabetes.

So if someone is overweight, do not assume that they are making poor dietary choices. More than likely they are too poor to buy the nutritional foods they need.

Did I not say, in my post, that the reason for some people being overweight is due to a high carb diet? Meaning the carbs is what is causing them to be overweight.

A box of pasta, or a bag of rice could feed a family of four. What could you feed a family of four that is high protein, that would be equivalent in price?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1235686

Look it doesnt matter if its high carbs, people tailor theyre diet to low carb because its the fasted way to lose fat, so get it out of your head, it doesnt matter how many times of day you eat, how late you eat it is all in calorie intake. Less calories= weight loss, more calories= weight gain, and if you still donnt get it I'll start linking hard scientific research if you really don't believe me

wow, and that very attitude is bad karma in itself. So just because someone has stored energy, they are automatically bad people because why????

For the last couple of hundred thousand years, or more, our bodies have tried desperately to keep us alive regardless of the conditions of starvation that we had to live through. Now that there is plenty of food for a couple of generations, our bodies have to adapt. It will probably take a few more generations.

Not to mention the excitotoxins.

Excuses excuses. Fatass. I fucking guarantee you are fat!
 Quoting: Semantics

I'm middle-aged. I've seen people struggle to lose weight, I've seen people struggle to gain weight. I personally am a proponent of organics and basics which are home-cooked. I don't like chemicals. Most of this came from when my son was young and suffered from asthma. I had to do a lot of research to get him to the healthy state he is today. However, there was a time a nice, yeasty piece of bread would set him off (he's allergic to molds). My point is that a person's health isn't always as simple as you seem to believe. Some people just don't have the ability (for one reason or another) to learn the basics of nutrition. Often, parents don't feed their children well and the children become obese. Once you grow fat cells, you are in for a life-long struggle because while those fat cells might shrink, but they won't go away. Same with women who are pregnant - that is another time when fat cells are added so it's especially important not to gain too much weight then, either, because it's hard to take off. The thing is, these people can often lose the weight by very low calorie intake and extra exercise, but even if they keep up with the exercise, if they start eating a normal diet again, they gain the weight back. We are all individuals. I'm a teacher and I would never yell at a student who was slower than the others and call him a dummy because he wasn't trying hard enough. I can't imagine calling an overweight person a fat, lazy slob, either. That's just cruel. I'm not making excuses, but I stand by my comments that overweight people are most successful with the help of nutritionists/trainers - in other words a support system. Without that, you can badger and castigate all you want and it's not going to help them. Research agrees with that assertion.

Interesting fact:

Diet industry: $58 Billion per year
Amount it would cost to improve rural infrastructure to prevent hunger: $40 billion one time pay and around $10 billion per year to maintain.

I'm gonna caps-rage for a moment...

It it no secret that you can look at city street camera footage from the 1940s and 1950s, of people walking up and down doing shopping and other things...

and most of society was NORMAL sized...No gross 3 stomachs or thunder thighs or just a head and the rest of the body looks like jaba the hut...

this is a MODERN phenomenon of over eating BAD food and LACK of SELF control...

If you look at clothing made in the 1950s for the GENERAL public the NORMAL average woman's dress size was a 10 or 12.

MOST women had nice figures...

Today, you can sit at any airport in the US and find upwards of 66% of the people grossly overweight and I meant GROSSLY

lack of self control is a major reason for weight gain in the US

There are other conditions that may cause weight gain to this extent but these are very small compared to the 60-70% of the population

If a person of 1950 stepped out of the time capsule they would be horrified at what they would see

I do not doubt this in the least....

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1410805

(Note: I screwed up on the quoting bit, obviously; let's try that again!)
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1410805

Actually having an actual medical condition is one thing and so is taking meds. But 3.00 for a 4 lbs. frozen bag of broccoli is expensive? 5 lbs frozen bag of chicken breast for 10.00 is expensive, etc. Now most these low carb, high protien diets are geared toward sparing muscle mass, and producing high testosterone, if thats the individuals goal. But if its just fat loss it can really be any combination of a diet. Which is plain and simply less calories than your body needs throughout the day. And I never said it was easy, I was very strict with myself, and I have will power.
Also I never did one ounce of cardio thats for people who like to eat more, I just ate less. So I never had to burn off extra CALORIES. All I did was lift 3 times a week. Really it is simple.

Read up guys, you might learn something. I need to read it myself: [link to en.wikipedia.org]

Jake, you're a bitter person. I am guessing you once tried to get into the military but didn't qualify, or never tried because you knew you were too fat and worthless to do it.

Your post amuses me because it shows your ignorance. I have a fast track career. I'll do my stint in recruiting, which the promotion boards love because they know you can be a public speaker, can deal with high profile members of the community, etc etc, and go back to the area of the armed forces where I've always excelled. Lying? Really? Dude, you are fat and dumb so you might not realize, but we have people lining up to join the service. I dont have to lie to anyone. Unlike you, I have some pride in my work. I can help young people who don't have much of a chance in life actually make something of themselves. Whats your job, stud?
 Quoting: Semantics

I put in 5 in Security Forces (for the enlistment bonus,) got into CID and another 6 in SATCOM and now I'm a defense contractor with GEDEF making more money than would fit on your DEFAS log.

I hate your kind. You're fast tracking into the ground. Want to compare DD214s you pathetic pogue?

178'th FW in case you want more specifics.
 Quoting: Jake101

I dont have a dd214 cause I'm still in you fucking retard.
 Quoting: Semantics

I'm talking about when you separate when you get tired of pretending you're "fast tracking."

It's funny, using the term "fast tracking," that's a recruiter's favorite buzz term.

"31 on your ASVAB? We'll get you into 88Mike! You'll be fast tracked for sure!"
 Quoting: Jake101

Actually, the 31s go MP, like your security forces, if you really were that, which I dont believe. And fast tracking is a buzzword for recruiters? Dude, you obviously have no fucking idea what youre talking about. But keep going, cause it amuses me. The fact that there are people out there that have to make shit up in order to feel good about themselves.... scary, but still very amusing!

bsflag I did it on all cheap food, and to let you in on a secret low carb, high fat high protein is the way to go, and most the time i ate 1200-1400 calories a day and excercised rigorously, because I did not want to be a fat person any longer.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1561012

Dude, dont use actual facts, they dont want to hear that. They want feel good BS that gives them a reason to still be a fatass.
