NICT Real Time Magnetosphere Simulation is back up. Anyone seen it look like *this* before?

warning. no proton absorption estimates.. it was red and green 15mins ago, now this.

what's so big about it? Can someone who knows explain this to someone that's never payed attention to these graphs before? What's the significance? Any doom perhaps??

Basically out natural force field seems to be damn near non-existent. This means when the CME from the Xflare gets here in a few days we will have nothing to protect the power grid.

there being 'nothing' on the right picture - ie there being no kind of coloration around the globe - does NOT mean that 'magnetosphere has disappeared'

it means, there is NO pressure on magnetosphere at that point in time from sun. and yes, it can go to almost zero on the scale given there.

ive seen it before. many times.

ive also seen it turn almost totally white around earth.

WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO THE POLES? THE DATA IS GONE (USUALLY RED)

Almost looks like someone added a second protective field ahead of the earth.....maybe something is still comming....

that's a mess. i've seen some weird nict sims the past few years, but this one really looks fried.

my dsl is going out again. sat. it cut off about 100 times, only about 25 yesterday. something seems up with that..

The bigger issue COULD BE the one that this is headed our way.

A significant glancing blow to our planet's magnetic field is possible on Sept. 26th around 14:00 UT (+/- 7 hours). To me, it appears since this is +/-7 hours - this could have been the disruption between 6-8:00 UT, or there could be a bigger one to come in the next 12 hours.

Um, I thought it was expected at 2pm GMT today, thats in about 56 minutes.

I apologise for not knowing what all of this data means, but myself and a friend have been looking into anomolies due to be happening around this time and I just bumped into Godlikeproductions after I finished work today.

Does it look on the surface that we may be expecting a solar flare? I'm in the UK and the general consensus is that something is happening this afternoon. Could somebody perhaps describe to me in Lamen's terms what this data means?

It just got blasted big time.

We will have nothing to protect the power grid, or us! These huge CMEs could be very bad if we have no protection from the magnetosphere. That is a lot of plasma and radiation coming in with nothing to stop it. We will see this on Radiation Network.

Behemoth Sunspot 1302 has been active with flares, two X-class and three M-class flares, and it's rotating into an Earth-directed orientation...

It looks like the ionospheric convection is strongest from Greenland, across the Artic. I wonder what this means.

Damn!!

So has the magnosphere anything to do with keeping space junk satellites and spacestations in orbit. Could that be the reason satellites are coming down and the spacestations been rumoured to be evacuated. Also we have a heatwave coming tomorrow up to 82deg could all this is connected
