This is big. So it begins?
 Quoting: komi54

what's so big about it? Can someone who knows explain this to someone that's never payed attention to these graphs before? What's the significance? Any doom perhaps??
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1612234

Basically out natural force field seems to be damn near non-existent. This means when the CME from the Xflare gets here in a few days we will have nothing to protect the power grid.
 Quoting: komi54

Oh shit shocked

Glad I just finished backing up laptop and desktop onto the external drive and got that baby tripled wrap. Don't feel like loosing tons of Gigs and 13 years worth of data.

Hope others are protected :-)

wow 40% chance of x-flare in next 48 hours?

I don't know much about this stuff...is not usually that high is it??

And is the sunspot earth facing?

ah! nevermind:

"Flares from AR1302 will become increasingly geoeffective as the sunspot turns toward Earth in the days ahead."

ahhh

So, not only do we have to worry about the sun, we have to worry about more fireballs and space junk getting in, right?

Find a lot of twitterers talking about it - some who watch magnetoshere regularly are freaking.

Think lovely thoughts peeps.

For what it's worth, guess what I found under my car this morning? No shit, completely freaked me out...remember the black stone from the movie, Knowing? I do realize that it was just a movie but wouldn't you freak out a little after seeing that? I've never even seen a stone like that around here, even though, I know they exist.

So, if the shields are down and we get hit by the Draconid meteor shower around October 8th, does that mean that we could get more impacts? Do you think they can do anything to fix the shields?

WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO THE POLES? THE DATA IS GONE (USUALLY RED)
 Quoting: absol

Warning! No proton absorbtion estimates!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 619959

So what does this mean?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 946263

The enhanced ionization produced by incoming energetic protons increases the absorption levels in the lower ionosphere and can have the effect of completely blocking all ionospheric radio communications through the polar regions. Such events are known as Polar Cap Absorption events (or PCAs).

Nasa seems to follow the protons for a couple of days now.

Anyway check the 2 hours data here (KEV station is the northest so it is the most affected)

Its calming now.
I've been observing this site for about six years. I've never seen it with so little pressure.
The low pressure allowed the magnetic band to more in front it appears.

I know. I'm already worried about 2005 YU55 on November 8th. Things could really get interesting. Please stay safe everyone and keep an eye on the charts. The best way to be prepared is to know what's coming and know what's happening. No big surprise that they haven't but MSM should let people know that they should pay a little more attention to things right now.
