No one comments on the crazy magnetic field? I've never seen it look that tangled before.

edit: It looks like someone scribbled with crayons.
 Quoting: Raisty

As I recall the "tangled" part is similar to what it looked like back in March when Fukushima went down.
Definitely time to bring in the tamatas.

pretty sure that was just the initial impact. should kick back up here soon. wouldn't be surprised if we see a G4 storm out of this.

and here ya have it! Kp=8 G4 Storm

THINK ABOUT THIS!

The universe created life to be observed, without an observer, it never existed. So it is a mathematical proof that the universe created life.

If a sunspot 1302 were to let go now it could cause major havoc due the compression on the magnetic field. A strong CME hit followed closely by a solar flare is a worst case scenario.

Is ACE not working anymore? I'm pretty sure they all get their data from it.

The magnetogram image of the Sun looks like it is just ready to explode. It would not be any stretch of the imagination to think we may have a Earth facing Solar Flare within the next 48 hours.

This isn't anything special yet. Apperently this happen only 4 days every eleven years. If KP goes to 10, I shall eat my words. Here are your space weather scales.

I think this is the real deal! I don't know how we're going to know what's coming, or how NOAA is going to make predictions when ACE is not reporting data...

Can anyone find any recent data???

The Ionosphere has been charged up so to speak from the CME hit roughly 3 hours ago. Basically there is now a soft spot in the magnetosphere which would be vulnerable to a solar fare or gamma ray burst.

just jumpin in right now but...HOLY SHIIIITTTTT! i had to go through the pictures from this morning so here is a good link for anyone that didn't catch it earlier: [link to www2.nict.go.jp]

i never *have* seen it like that. i'm no expert but i have watched that site for a couple years now, daily.

it also still looks pretty strange right now, if you ask me. glad its finally back on.

So you mean to say if that same area is hit by another flare then the SA & S Cali will fry?

Like I said, I may worry if Kp hits 10 or over. But 5 stars since I'm following this very closely.

all together, what are you thinking?
One has to live in the present. Whatever is past is gone beyond recall; whatever is future remains beyond one’s reach, until it becomes present. Remembering the past and giving thought to the future are important, but only to the extent that they help one deal with the present.

I FUCKING knew I was on to something....
Thread: The Doom IS The Sun!

The info coming in now from Solarham, NICT, NOAA is way higher than I can remember. BUT as someone said earlier KP of 10 will be a bit scary.
Anyone know what will happen if we keep getting hits from all the other activity from 1302? Also yesterday ISWA was showing a direct hit on the 26th but I did not know from where?
