Yeah, I saw that about a year ago and would love to build one in our woods. We run Forest schools for children in our woods as well as running a Montessori school and think it would be great for kids to use when in woods, and myself of course!! There are pictures of more here and there is a little community of them in woods in Wales. They are the only kind of house you could get permission to build in woodland here in UK. I really hope to get permission to do it some time soon! Lots of useful information here. The bottom house is made of old tyres and hay! Saw it being made on T.v.

If the wood was solid and if there is no earth to wood contact, then from the images the structural members are stronger than they need to be.

Reciprocal roof systems like that are super strong, stronger than a conventional strut-work roof that is weakened at each connection point.

The only 'weak' point may be at ground level where the tree trunks meet the foundation. Unless he coated the bottoms of the buried 'posts' in something like paint on bed liner, sealing it completely from soil and moisture, then in about 25 to 50 years (depending on the local termite potential) his house will collapse. If the trunks are isolated from soil and moisture they could stand for on I don't know, well over a century with minor regular maintenance to the structure.

It appears he used a thick mil plastic to isolate the straw bales from the ground, he most likely used the same to isolate the trunks from the ground as well.

And organic, curve is more likely to hold up over a milled straight bit of lumber, thus the very structure has great strength, especially over the windows and doors (openings) where he relied on arches.
