Ive seen photos like this hundreds of times since i started observing the magnetosphere and the charts.... If a pole shift was happening our sites would go completely down and out first...

Kinda. From what I know that is just... crazy. Seriously, I can`t find any other word to describe it. It looked like it was separating... and I`ve never seen that on the back of the plasma sheet. NEVER.

could you pls explain it to those of us who don't understand. I know the red lines are s. magnetic and the blue are N. magnetic. I know the pressure is up too, but that's it. Why are the s. lines going north and the N. lines going south?

Sorry, but I'm pretty sure that the layer can't separate in 2 and that the magnetopause shouldn't get an extension.

Either it is some pretty bad ass solar wind curving them like that or it is the polar shift.

Your making things up because you have no idea whats going on with the magnetosphere- even with the charts. Its done this various times the back part has even been white/red before with gaps in the front shield and every variation you could almost dream of.... This is not the chart to watch for doom...

The earth's magnetosphere is going to take a beating for the next few days because of recent earth directed solar flares.

The sun has been very active lately with several M-class flares and a few X-class within the past week.

Continue to watch the sun as well as the magnetosphere and you will see patterns emerge.

Hold of on hitting the panic button until something drastic happens.
