Actually gmo foods are in full bloom in Brazil. Soy is all gmo and gmo corn is arriving. Every year one billion liters of pesticides are spread in soil, air and water.
There is no preference for organic foods by the people. People buy what is cheaper.
But there is still some green and cattle is raised in pastures, in the old fashion.

A global economic crisis may be good for the enviromnent. People conuming less and depleting less the natural resources.
