If you're feeling that crappy from the first pill or two it either might not be the right med for you or the dosage may be way too high.

try cutting a pill in quarters (not even halves, some people are really sensitive to it) and start with that. Slowly add pill quarters over a period of weeks. Once you feel ok without side effects stop adding pill chunks.

When I taper on in the fall I start with 1/4 of a 50 mg pill (50 is the lowest dosage they usually prescribe). The docs say I shouldn't feel any change at 12.5 mg but that's bullshit, I do. Often I can stop at 25 mg for months, until the real dead of winter.

And for those of you who say "it'll kill you" etc, well, untreated depression can kill you too. Sometimes it's not situational, there are genetic and biochemical factors involved.
EVERY woman in my family has had it hit them at around age 30 regardless of life circumstances. It hit me out of the blue when my life was going really well at the same age.

Sometimes bodies don't work right. Those of you objecting to a chemical treatment to what for many of us is a largely chemical issue wouldn't object to diabetics taking insulin to deal with a malfunctioning pancreas, now would you?

I was on prozac quite a while ago and it helped a bit but eventually made me feel numb. Are these filled with fluoride? And do they work well?

If youre a male it often prolongs the length of time it takes to orgasm. Does that help?

yeah I noticed that and that means better orgasms .

Depends, managed correctly it has all manner or positive potential for a decent shag or few. Recovery time is decreased, it's up to you to sort out.

I'm not a sheep i know exactly what they do. But right now its my only option of being able to feel remotely 'happy' with everything thats going on. I would love to smoke weed every day like i used to but my family will throw me out if they find my drugs again and i cant hide it.

Maybe if i stay on a small dose i woke get brainwashed as much?
I lost my mind... But i found my soul.

I took my first pill today a couple hours ago. I'm feeling like im on amphetamine or a mild ecstasy dose. My jaw is tense and im really hot. Fuuuck.

That happen to me the very first time i tried Lexapro, was bloody strange!
 Quoting: BillyX

was the same for me too, the 1st night was like mild speed effect, this wore off for me over a few hours.

the net is full of resource on the use of SSRI's in general; there's a lot of serious talk about the drug and its uses out there..

I've been off mine for years now. tried loads and some worked better than others. got me through some right sh1t though!

I now take HTP5 & St. Johns Wort. I was very surprised to see this mixture worked, not sure why... but it works great.

The fluoride aspect was the thing that put me off this family of drug.. the sexual disfunction too after a short while.

Good luck op. have a look out there for a forum populated by people seeking the same reassurances as yourself, there's a lot of info out there to read, some good and some bad...but from the horses mouth, as it were ;>>

that stuff makes your head feel like its in a box all day, and tired, fuzzy.

the best anti dep i think is lexapro.

Don't take it makes you worse its for people who are literally slitting their wrists.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1550626

I'll back this up. I'd get off the stuff immediately. Try some weed. Or some excercise. Drink tons of water. Get laid. But don't take the Zoloft. I know folks that take it and it doesn't seem to help them. Made a couple of them want to 'tear off their skin'. (their words) If you must take a prescription drug, try a benzodiazepine (sp?). I'd recommend Valium. Can almost recommend Xanax, I think its better than Zoloft. Sedatives are often more helpful than antidepressants and mood stabilizers. I stick with hallucinogens to keep me grounded and happy. Taking a trip once in a while is, to me, much better. SSRI's do make people kill themselves. Be warned.

I liked Zoloft and it helped my depression a lot. The problem with it was I broke out in rashes on my legs and had numnbess in my ring and pinky fingers which bothered me on the keyboard

Other than that, I had no side effects and it worked well for me.

If your psychiatrist thinks you need it, take it.

if you take ANY of those prescriptions drugs you will be fucked for good...

smoke weed, but not too much

do yoga, start now, give it a week, you will feel the results in your body and in your mind (pay attention to the BREATHING part)

eat healthy, cut all the crap if you consume any of it,, just fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, all that stuff, drink ONLY water and nothing more

read books, study something, write, draw, paint, make music, go out everyday and walk. no fucking tv

wake up early, and go to sleep at a reasonable time, if you cant sleep, stay in bed calm, use that time to meditate

if you can have a garden, or grow plants somewhere, that will help you for sure, in addition you can grow some healthy food or have some nice natural bud to smoke, plants will make you feel better, taking care of them

well, its not easy for sure... but get off those drugs or you will be fucked...

You're entitled to that opinion, but I have to disagree with that you've said here. Diabetics are not the same as folks who've let their bodies and minds be turned to shit by this sick society and all it entails and are not in a state to deal with it. Pharmacuaticals are not the answer. They are to satiate the weak and get the functioning enough to keep working. It's like someone trying to pretend that everything is okay when things haven't changed. Really, depression doesn't exist. People have been taught that it does because people have been taught that they have no control and if something is wrong, it should be medicated. This is outdated and simply part of societal control and money making scheme of the science and technology world takeover bid. Trust me on this one, OP. Be weak and medicated, or be strong and happy. Two different approaches, only one is self-improvement.

its been 9 days of taking 50mg zoloft every morning and it has helped me greatly. I feel positive 90% of the time. some days i feel fairly numb but other days it feels like mdma and speed, weird lol. Im going to dread coming off these though i heard the withdrawals are awful... should be getting some xanax from my doctor soon, yipee!

I would smoke weed... but after 6 years using it, my head became majorly fucked and had psychosis so i had to stop.

I guess you either love or hate zoloft.. so many mixed reviews.
I lost my mind... But i found my soul.
