I graduated high school in 99, went to college, got nearly 40k in debt, got out into the job market in 2005, it all went to shit by 2008, it's been shit since then. I'm still paying my monthly minimum payments on that college loan a decade later with nothing to show for it. I'm not gonna have any retirement savings or a home of my own, I dont have the money to raise a family. It's looking like the only thing most of us have to look forward to is a suicide to end the misery of our tragic lives. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47495015 Tough shit? I don't sympathize with my school friends anymore. Most of them laughed at me about starting a business and combining our efforts for a better future together when I was 16. I was willing to share with them then, running a coop business, now I'm not willing anymore. I started my business, now I run multiple plants in the US and Mexico. Meanwhile, those same friends are begging me for just little over minimum wage jobs as accountants and management positions. I knew this situation was coming beforehand, I knew most of my friends and younger kids were going to get fucked over with this scam long before it happened, no one believed me, the teachers would say otherwise. I knew my only recourse was to take my future into my own hands and start running a business as young as possible. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 43698733 i'm part of this generation and i totally agree with you. they get told you have to go to college, and they act like after they get out they are entitled to a job. that's not how it works. i passed on college, went straight to work my up into a management position, and now a lot of those college folks work under me but act like they "too good" to be working for wages under what they believed they were going to be making out of college. just because you got in a bunch of student loan debt doesn't mean you automatically start out making $100,000+ |

It was the job of our parents and elders to give us a "FAIR" and good system. Instead you rode the system for all it was worth to increase "YOUR" wealth. Now after we have worked hard, did want we were told but "YOU" (teachers, leaders, and parents) we are left with a broke systems. Jobs at now pay a portion of what they did whey you worked them. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10630957 Now we get to pay more for insurance to support "YOU". You call use dumb and lazy without understanding the situation because you did it like 30 years ago and we just aren't hard working like you. You sound like the 1% trying to hold on to every last penny. We understand it. That is why we include the lazy and bad degrees. (i have accounting/computer graphics double major) A chain is only as good as the weakest link. You will try and call it Socialist but its not. Its fixing our crappy system. No i dont like ACA and wish we had a single payer system. What good Christians you are. Wishing pain on your fellow brothers. Wonder why people and government are turning to islam with the shinning helpful Christian's on here. Complain about the government but won't do anything to help people get off it. (pay raises, insurance, more hours, treat employees nice) You want to get rid of the government then all you have to do it do right by your employees. But you can't you like the money too much. You have to make them feel like they need to kiss your feet because you gave them a job..... I will give some advice because i love you all. Greedy and the false christian / mean employees, change your ways or you might not make it to retirement. Not by my hands but the masses can't take much more. I'm 31 and i see and hear this talk EVERY day. They things people say they want to do to there bosses..... I pray there isn't a power outage or shtf event. You are wrong. I'm sorry. I know you think you are right, but you are completely and totally off base. The older generation was PROMISED economic help in their old age and they got fucked in 2008. FUCKED. Prior to that, they saw no reason why the promises of retirement couldn't come true just like they did for their parents. What would you have done differently if you had been a boomer? Not a damn thing. So blaming them now is completely stupid. Maybe you should blame yourself for not being a Christian and honoring The Lord Your GOD who gives all good things. This country is under judgment because we have turned away from God. You yourself are in that boat and you are proud of your unbelief and blasphemy against your creator. Who's Stupid? If the people of this nation do not turn back to The Lord and Repent of their evil, then these things are going to get worse and worse until this country is taken over by another and we are in bondage. That's how it happened in the Bible to Israel and that's how it will happen here. Your anger and your actions are misplaced, but you have been taught to scoff at God. If only you would repent and turn to The One True God in Jesus Name, you would be saved, but you see no reason. Now, satan has you blaming a generation who was so lost in their own delusions. It will do you no good, but will further cause you to lose and to be condemned. Wake Up. Christard and Lover of God |

I graduated and sent out about 900-1000 job applications. I just spammed my resume to people. Spamming is OK. Spamming with a shit resume is not OK. If I saw a job that was remotely related to what I graduated in, I spammed them my resume. I didn't find the process soul crushing at all. If you do, you are probably an overly emotional sissy. Buckle down, apply to jobs and STFU. If your not getting responses after you send it out 1000 times then guess what, your resume probably just sucks because you spent your college years motorboating co-eds and working in fucking chucky cheese instead of getting work experience in your field, thus, you probably don't deserve a job anyway you complete waste of oxygen. Took about 1-2 weeks of spamming. I still get people calling me asking me to work for them. I got my first interview. Bombed it because the CEO thought I was lying about being British LOL. Second interview nailed it and got hired. Easy. Wasn't soul crushing at all. And in Britain, students don't even pay interest on their student debt until they start work and even now, when I do 'pay' it is like $40 a month towards paying for my education. I spend more on coca-cola so who cares. Barack Obama is a wanker though yes. |

That was the lowest level that we have seen since World War II. #2 Today, there are 5.9 million Americans between the ages of 25 and 34 that are living with their parents. #3 The economic downturn has been particularly tough on men. According to Census data, men are twice as likely to live with their parents as women are. #4 Amazingly, less than 30 percent of all U.S. teens had a job this summer. #5 Approximately one out of every five Americans under the age of 30 is currently living in poverty. #6 According to one recent survey, only 14 percent of all Americans that are 28 or 29 years old are optimistic about their financial futures. #7 Since the year 2000, incomes for U.S. households led by someone between the ages of 25 and 34 have fallen by about 12 percent after you adjust for inflation. #8 The cost of “getting an education” has become increasingly burdensome in recent years. Average yearly tuition at U.S. private universities is now up to $27,293. That figure has increased by 29% in just the past five years. #9 In America today, approximately two-thirds of all college students graduate with student loans. #10 Millions of young Americans are absolutely being financially strangled by horrific student loan debt loads. Sadly, the total amount of student loan debt in the United States now exceeds the total amount of credit card debt in the United States. #11 In 2010, the average college graduate had accumulated approximately $25,000 in student loan debt by graduation day. #12 One-third of all college graduates end up taking jobs that don’t even require college degrees. #13 In the United States today, there are more than 100,000 janitors that have college degrees. #14 In the United States today, 317,000 waiters and waitresses have college degrees. #15 In the United States today, approximately 365,000 cashiers have college degrees. #16 In the United States today, 24.5 percent of all retail salespersons have a college degree. #17 As the economy has crumbled, fewer young Americans have been getting married. Today, an all-time low 44.2% of Americans between the ages of 25 and 34 are married. #18 Young Americans are becoming increasingly frustrated as our politicians stand by and do nothing while our economy is being hollowed out. The sad truth is that United States has lost an average of 50,000 manufacturing jobs a month since China joined the World Trade Organization in 2001, and top politicians in both major political parties keep pushing for even more job-killing “free trade” agreements. #19 Young Americans are becoming increasingly frustrated that pretty much the only jobs that seem to be available are low paying jobs. Back in 1980, less than 30% of all jobs in the United States were low income jobs. Today, more than 40% of all jobs in the United States are low income jobs. #20 Young Americans are becoming increasingly frustrated that previous generations have saddled them with a 14 trillion dollar national debt that they are expected to make payments on for the rest of their lives. |

The recent economic downturn has hit those under the age of 30 the hardest. Today, there are hordes of young people that should be entering their most productive years that are sitting home with nothing to do. Many of them have worked incredibly hard throughout high school and college. Many of them have stayed out of trouble and have done everything that "the system" asked them to do. But once they got finished with school, the promised "rewards" simply were not there. Instead, millions of young Americans are faced with crushing student loan debt loads in an economy where they can't find good jobs. When you are in your twenties, it can be absolutely soul-crushing to send out hundreds (or even thousands) of resumes and not get a single interview. Most of us grew up believing that we would "be something" when we got older, and millions of young Americans are having those dreams brutally crushed right now. Americans under the age of 30 voted for Barack Obama in droves back in 2008 because they believed that he would make things better. Instead, Barack Obama has made things even worse. Significant numbers of young Americans are starting to wake up and realize that neither political party is providing any real answers, and they are starting to get mad as hell about it. Quoting: BigDog10000000000000 [link to endoftheamericandream.com] I beg to differ. Millions and millions of young Americans under 30 aren't 'mad' or 'lost faith' because they don't give a shit! Most under 30 have no idea what's going on in the real world around them and could care less!!!!!!! I know there is a very, very small minority of younger people that actually get the big picture and are truly concerned about the future. Most of them however are too concerned with where they're going out tonight, their clothes, selfies, twerking, iOS updates, Pintersheist, Vine, me me me and if they can borrow some money from their parents. The financial future is well on its way to its own funeral, but these kids just think that someone else will fix it. Maybe the next potus or some rich guy. OF course they're mad they can't get the candy job they're paying those student loans for, but they do know that they went to school and will get the job they 'deserve' at some point just because. They do know what they want when they want it. They think they deserve expensive schooling and high-paying jobs just for waking up before noon and showing up. Well, they will pay for it. g0ld3nb0y |

Quoting: BigDog10000000000000 [link to endoftheamericandream.com] Elections have consequences. Mitt Romney under Bain Capitol created millions of jobs. Since inception it has invested in or acquired hundreds of companies including AMC Theatres, Aspen Education Group, Brookstone, Burger King, Burlington Coat Factory, Clear Channel Communications, Domino's Pizza, DoubleClick, Dunkin' Donuts, D&M Holdings, Guitar Center, Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), Sealy, Sports Authority, Staples, Toys "R" Us, Warner Music Group and The Weather Channel. Obama has never in his life had a real job, run a business or knows anything about the economy. In 2012 we were faced with choosing a person that would get things moving. The nation needed jobs. We need work. On one hand we had a man that could do that and on the other a loser that opened 30+ businesses with tax payer money that all failed within four years. America chose the main that could not successfully run a business. Many didn't vote for Romney because he was mormon. I guess a muslim is better? Many didn't vote for him because the republican party rammed him down our throats. Whatever the reason, people should have voted for what was best for the country. We need jobs. Out of spite, hate, or what ever reason, people did not show up to vote for Romney. Obama won and with that there are major consequences and we are facing them now. Obama care is going to drain strained wallets, the war on coal is going to double the price of electricity and trillions will be spent again feeding and clothing those that don't want to work. America gets what it deserves. |
