.WOW! *** SPACE STATION AURORA *** A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!!!
This is the result of the impact from the CME on Sep 26 2011.
I have seen a few pics taken from various zones on Earth but this one is just breath taking.
Charged particles collision with Oxygen atoms creates the beautiful green colors and the collision with Nitrogen atoms creates the astounding red bands!!

If that was taken lasr night then i witnessed the same aurora and the space station. I viewed it from Knik bridge in Palmer, AK. Brilliant green parallel lines went for miles, with the space station in the back drop.

Wy we DON'T see any stars in 90% of the moveis/pictures taken by ISS while on the night side of the orbit?

I'm surprised that no one has checked the star clusters in the
back ground to make sure it was taken by the ISS and not from
another planet's orbital platform .

Pay attention to the video clip I posted a couple of places up^, You can clearly see the stars in the background.
Furthermore, in order to emphasize the beauty of the Aurora, the picture I showed you, was taken with an elapsed exposure (longer exposure)

Re: .WOW! *** SPACE STATION AURORA *** A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!!!
I tried to but my HTC couldn't get a decent pic. Maybe next time with my DSLR. Sometimes its too cold out and makes my cameras act funny. During the last lunar eclipse i could only get a couple and by the time i had my camera tuned in it couldn't handle the temp. I was very cold, about 10 degrees. My phone quits working if im in 30 degrees for over 30 minutes lol.
