Its terribly disturbing how misinformed these policies are. How would the authors of the constitution feel about this? In case you didn't know, virtually all of the USA's founding fathers grew and used hemp. |

Come on ATF, get your head out of your ass. |

Quoting: DERAIL Federal firearms regulators are telling gun shops it’s illegal for someone who uses marijuana to own or buy guns or ammunition, regardless of whether states have passed laws allowing patients to use the drug for medicinal purposes. In an open letter to all federal firearms licensees posted last week, Arthur Herbert, the assistant director of enforcement programs and services for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said his office has received “a number of inquiries” about whether medical marijuana patients can own or buy guns and ammo in medical-marijuana states. Federal law says marijuana is classified as a Schedule 1 drug similar to heroin, in spite of 16 states, including California, having passed making the drug legal for medical use. The federal government doesn’t recognize marijuana as a medicine, Herbert says. “Therefore anyone who uses or is addicted to marijuana, regardless of whether his or her state has passed legislation authorizing marijuana use for medicinal purposes, is an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance and is prohibited by federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition,” Herbert writes. More: [link to www.redding.com] This is total bullshit really. You can take all the dangerous pharmaceuticals that actually cause propel to twist off and kill 30 or 40 people over and over again, but if you use a harmless drug that is known not to be associated with violent behaviors, it's a disqualification to have a gun. They go on to justify it saying it is because the user of medical marijuana is an unlawful user or addict , and that cannot be possible since their states legalized its use. It is bullshit that the federal government continues to play this game, the states have the right to decide issues such as who is and who is not allowed to purchase a gun, the second amendment takes the federal government out of any such business of gun regulation. ALL federal gun laws are UNCONSTITUTIONAL, and to be ignored by lawful owners in their own states. And most states do not reciprocate with Feds on gun issues when an arrest is made anyway. It's none of their fuckigng business. |
