Is anyone else noticing a lot of fungus or mold patches in their yard early in the A.M.? Effect of RADIATION?
I have been seeing this every morning for about the past two weeks or so. It looks like heavy dew from a distance but when you get up close you can clearly see the fibers or tiny strands of something unusual.

I have never had this before. I have sandy well drained soil and it has not rained very much. By 10AM it seems to disappear until the next morning. It is all over the yard.

Anybody else have this problem? I am in N.C.

Been noticing it on the lawns as I drive for several wks now. Also what I consider to be a lot of locals complaining about fungal infections in/on themselves and their pets.
I am in east central florida.

September is spider season. Could it be webs?

I also had a tree grow some type of solid white fungus from the bottom of the trunk about 8 inches wide and 2ft tall. Wraps half way around with another spot starting on the good side.

I saw in another post that the Listeria cases are caused by the Fukushima radiation spreading that are accelerating the growth and outbreaks of bacteria and fungus deaths for those downwind.

Scary shit.

It is not webs. I entertained that thought also but when I look closely it is a fungus with soft little hairy spikes.

I farm on my property so I do notice almost immediately when something changes. The condition of my land is critical to my living.

I seem to remember (from girls scouts 35 years ago) that fungus grows on the north side of trees. (if its cloudy you can tell direction when lost in the woods)

You mean moss......... and I am aware of it.

This bright white fungus appeared from nothing to an 8"X2ft patch in 4 DAYS.

It is not your usual rippled 1/2 mushroom looking thing either. Looks like it was painted on very thick with a textured roller.

Re: Is anyone else noticing a lot of fungus or mold patches in their yard early in the A.M.? Effect of RADIATION?
Spiders are laying down traps to feed up before the COLD weather comes. My garden is full of large tunnel like webs with large striped yellow and brown guys cathcing loads of flying insects like mosquitos.

There are dozens of patches on grass and along sides of house and over the tops of plants . I see dozens of those tiny flies that have been biting for weeks now mere shells
under the webs.

Good spiders doing great jobs out there.

But I dont walk along the aisle between the high bushes and the canopy at night any more. Got facefull of web and
some crawly things a couple of times. :(

This is time for the spiders to have the whole garden at night and by sunrise they fold their traps and hide from those who dont appreciate their goodworks.

BOO !

Does your local feed store have any ideas on what to do about it?

Altho I prefer to stay as organic as possible with my plants and garden, I just used a systemic fungacide on some areas.

I am going there shortly. I am not concerned on how to get rid of it, that is easy.

I want to know what is causing it. When you have a farm and something unusual like this comes out of nowhere you need to know what the cause is. I have to get rid of the problem, not the symptoms.

Since Listeria and fungus go together, and given the recent news about the deaths caused by infected produce, I wonder how widespread it is.

Yeah, I don't care about the tree too much. I have a chainsaw and can solve the problem in about 30 seconds.

If this other stuff is on my grass in the yard, field and pasture, then it is getting into my produce and livestock.

Dismissing the cause could be harmful to somebody else. It would not be prudent of me to accept anything other than a solid factual and informed opinion.

I was just wondering if anyone else has seen it in their yard as well.

I have had a crap load of mushrooms in the yard...white ones..easy to mow...this week they were orange brown and fibrous..almost rubbery...hand to hand remove as mower would not shred them.

fwiw.

just though it odd.

these types of mushrooms are extremely large and have never grown in my yard before.

I have not had enough rain in my area for that to be the cause. I wish it were that easy.

Good to hear you got rain though. I need a lot more than what we have had here.
