We have cycles of highs and lows as we progress spiritually.

They get longer and more intense on both sides as we go.

I came upon a point so dark and so long and every time i thought it was ending, it wasn't.

Years, like three or four, pure misery. Like being in a dark abyss of gloom and doom. But always remembering the spiritual highs too, always trying to recover but practically just barely functioning almost on autopilot.

And then slowly it started getting better but always dreading it wouldn't and I'd fall back in. Slowly very slowly things got better.

I've been fine for a few years now. Always on a high but always worried I'm just dreaming I've come back.

That's was my dark night and unfortunately, it's typical.
