but lets not forget: say, to begin to have effects like that starting with 3 to 4 + days awake, well you have to take drugs, normally.

If not, chances are that you are crazy, psychotic anyway and it shouldn't suprise you

agreed staying awake more than 4 days is difficult but far from impossible without drugs.

I had no car. Was working an odd shit, getting off at 11:30 at night and catching an 1:30minute bus ride home. Would sit and unwind for a bit, and next thing I know my girlfriends alarm was going off, with her 2 year old son waking up around same time.

I just could not get any sleep. We broke up shortly after this sleep deprivation, I am sure she thought I had officially lost it.

I called my mom one night and swore that I was adopted. I made her promise over and over. SHe was quite surprised to get this phone call at 3am one night.

This. Serious! I spent 3 weeks with a total of about 5 hour combined. I have never been nuttier in my whole life. LSD, Shrooms have nothing on sleep deprivation.
 Quoting: Revguard

im starting to think theres more to this dmt being responsible for hallucinations.
 Quoting: alongtimehere

Yes, my guess is that the Pineal gland has to secret this drug. It tries to only do it during REM sleep, but I believe if you stay up too long, it has to secrete some of it. Everyone I know that has gone more then about 4 days without sleep has always said they started hearing/seeing stuff.

DMT is the key.
 Quoting: Revguard

could there be a false trigger or maybe something that causes an over production and an untimely release of dmt.

No trigger really. This thing is always producing it, if it doesnt get a chance to release normally, it will eventually. Awake or not.

My theories. *shrug*

sounds possible..

have a read of this

[link to en.wikipedia.org] seems hallucinations and dmt have been theorised before..

also on a side note.. if dmt is naturally found in blood and urine and other body secretions and is also a controlled drug.

aside from internal possession as its not illegal, but if you bleeed or pass urine then its tested and dmt is found in it, does that allow for charges being brought against someone?

food for thought.

I have 'twice'. It has to do with the same man. At first his hair changed length rapidly. Then his face changed. It was very beautiful. The most beautiful face I've ever seen. Another time I was at his house with a friend & we both lost time. Not on drugs on any of those times.

I've often wondered about him. Did I hallucinate? It only happened with him. Could he be an ET?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2330034

No I cannot. This was many years ago.

What I can tell you is that in REAL life, as oposed to the movies, when this happens you are initially confused & frightened. Your whole world has been turned upside down and everything that you took for granted is over. You question your own sanity - a much better & more reasonable explanation. You do not assume that this person is your BFF. On the contrary they are strange & 'alien' & frighteneing. There is no reason why they would or should tell you anything. You fear that you will just make a massive fool of yourself. Imagine: 'Excuse me sir, are you an alien?' If you are sane and have any self-respect it doesn't happen.....

Yes, I chanted "Ohm" for a long time (maybe 20 min or more), I all of a sudden I noticed window blinds open in the air in front of me it lasted a few seconds and then disappeared. It looked as if I chanted a window to open in my room at the time. Only time that ever happened that was back in 1995/

Melatonin is a naatural brain chemical ? not a hormone, I don't know the cat. it falls into.
here it is: [link to en.wikipedia.org]
See that, learn something everyday! I did not think it was a hormone, I know I took it as a sleep supplement and it gave me a raging headache.

Alternatively: have others had someone change like this?

Probably not a hallucination though, something in between veils or something? Have seen a lot of things. Even saw a small gnome like figure, broad daylight, corner of my eye, he was translucent. And when I looked straight on, he was gone. I could go on, but don't want to scare anyone off !! And no, not crazy, one of the most stable people I know !!!

Psychedelics are not “hallucinogens”: this derogatory term is used in State-sponsored anti-drug propaganda, just as all illegal drugs are often included under the blanket term “narcotics” — including cocaine, which is a powerful stimulant, the opposite of a narcotic. The alterations of perception caused by psychedelics are not hallucinations in the strict sense of the term. Rather, they are amplifications and magnifications of perceptions and mental functions, analogous to the altered perceptions caused by looking through the lenses of a telescope or a microscope. There are some drugs which are true “hallucinogens” — i.e., which induce a confusion of the senses in which false perceptions are mistaken for real — including the belladonna / jimson weed / henbane family of herbs, sources of the drugs atropine and scopolamine. These drugs are in a distinct class from the psychedelics, as unbiased scientific studies of the subject make clear.
The term “psychedelic” was coined by Dr. Humphrey Osmond in the 1950s. It is derived from the Greek words psyche, soul or mind, and delos, to manifest or make clear; thus, the meaning of the term is “mind manifesting” or “soul-clarifying.” Since the 1960s, the word has entered into popular usage to describe such varied subjects as clothing styles and techniques of musical or artistic expression, but in its original sense it remains the most accurate scientific term for the unique class of consciousness-expanding drugs.
Simply stated, psychedelics affect consciousness by triggering increased amounts of neurotransmitters to flood the synapses of the brain, thus allowing the brain to process a larger percentage of the information streaming in through the nervous system. The effect is like switching on a bright light in a dimly lit room, or like waking up from a lifelong semi-sleep, to a higher degree of wakefulness than you’ve ever known.

Besides cannabis, the major psychedelics are:• LSD (made from ergot, a purple fungus that grows on rye, or from the seeds of certain varieties of morning glory and Hawaiian Rosewood flowers);
• mescaline (from peyote and other cactuses native to Mexico and the American southwest); and
• psilocybin (from “magic mushrooms”).

:( I hallucinate without drugs. I'm diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder with Psychotic Symptoms... there's no benefit to it for me... I hate it. I don't like hallucinating things like dead children that tell me to cut myself open or hooded figures surrounded by darkness that lurk in my bedroom. My best friend is legitimately Schizophrenic and has difficulty dealing with her hallucinations as well.

One time years ago. My dad and I were driving on the highway in the middle of the day and I saw a huge thing in the road that looked like a slug(about 4 feet high). It was spotted and it crawled then disappeared. My dad looked at me in shock before I even said anything. And I asked if he saw the same thing then we described the same thing to each other. Very strange.

What about dreams?

Does not matter if you have done drugs or not, every single night you see things that blow any hallucinogenic out of the water... and it happens every single night.

Just because you cant remember it does not mean it has not happened.

I have even taken drugs inside of a dream, now there is a real trip
