Thought the bugger was dead until I got close to it... Seen it was still breathing... Was about to continue on my way, since it was still alive when it jumped up and proceeded to block my path from me for several minutes. Dancing around like it was crazy or something.... Then it ran up a tree and was never to be seen again... Point of the story, sometimes squirrels do crazy things.... True story bro... |

Police Shield and Club? Well it did have a slight frothy look to it's mouth... Not getting anywhere near that bugger since I was not getting paid atm or covered by company insurance at the time. You know those candy's that make you foam at the mouth? Maybe if the protesters used those when charging police lines, they could stand a chance ^^ Nice and cheap solution, going to see if I can send them some now from the company that makes those lol. |

mrandel User ID: 2501330 United States 10/02/2011 12:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We were having coffee in the back yard (Sacramento, CA) and there is a squirrel acting really weird. Running around, barking like crazy and it's gone on for about an hour now... Really odd behavior. Normally, the squirrels are running around and through the trees, but this one is different. He has been hanging on the side of a tree, just yelling. Then he runs along the fence, to a certain point, and then hightails it back to the tree. He has repeated this several times. I thought maybe he was trying to communicate something (I know) so I looked over the fence just to make sure my elderly neighbor wasn't keeled over in her garden. The whole thing has been crazy?! |

Dr. House User ID: 1527778 United States 10/02/2011 03:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | They also have hands with opposable thumbs. They scold and 'bark' as a territory dispute emerges, they do this more when they have a nest either preparing for young or when they have young. Late winter and early spring is their mating season and when they start having babies. In fall they start disputing their territory due to the gathering of food stuff. For most of the year the boundaries between territories of squirrels grows very fuzzy with squirrels often crossing other territories even gathering from other territories without the squirrel in that territory getting upset. Squirrels as not social animals, being solitary they set up territories that can be as small as a single tree or as large as seven acres. Urban/suburban squirrels will have the smallest territory compared to rural squirrels. Scarcity of food will determine squirrel 'scolding', if food was and is plentiful, they will not challenge others in their territory. If food was/is scarce they are likely to challenge everyone and every species including humans. Squirrels are one of the few animals that actually gather and store food. Mice and beavers also hunt and gather and store food. Squirrels are also tricky. If they are being observed storing food they will 'palm' their store of food. Like a magician they go through the moves of storing something, having already hidden it away. This way the potential thief will find nothing at the site the squirrel is hiding something. If the squirrel thinks it is being watched, it will not lead you to its stored of food, it will pretend that someplace else is its food larder. Squirrels can also learn things and will teach it to their young. Such as that maze in that video, if the maze was kept up the next year where the squirrel was taking its children out to explore the world it would teach its children how to manage the course. On the potential intelligent tool using species list, Squirrels ranks pretty high up there. It already has the adaptation to use its hands, it has the problem solving ability. It does lack social behaviors that allow it to solve problem's as a group. Sinkhole list: Thread: Sinkholes Updated 28 Dec 2010 find a sinkhole, add it to this thread, please. Watched it the other day and damned near had soda coming out my nostrils. I remember the series, think it was Daylight Robbery. Anyway, it was about setting up obstacles courses to see how smart squirrels are. Apparently, they're freakin' rocket scientists. Now where's the video that shows the cat getting trapped under the plastic clothes bin? |

They've also been eating the mushrooms in my yard, so I'm pretty sure they're high or something. |
