Re: Is Smoking Marijuana A Sin? Christian Perspective!
I think that you really know the answer to this question, but I will give you the short and long version.

1. Short version. Yes, smoking marijuana is a sin. The definition of "sin" is "missing the mark". Using any mild-altering substance (alcohol, pot, any other non-prescribed medication) is altering your brain chemistry and by definition "a sin".

2. Long version. Why is altering my brain chemistry missing the mark? Doing anything that harms your body is missing the mark. Your body is the temple of Christ.

When did my body become the temple of Christ?
Under the old testament, animals were sacrificed for mankind's "missing the mark or sin". People brought animals to the temple and the priest went into the "holy of holies" and sacrificed these animals to God so that mankind could be forgiven. (OLD TESTAMENT WAY)

Under the new testament, Christ did away with the sacrifice process and BECAME our eternal sacrifice, for our past sins, our present sins and our future sins. So we went from having animal sacrifice to Christ being our eternal sacrifice. (that is why he had to die on the cross).

Now, since we don't sacrifice animals anymore, Christ also did away with the idea that we had to go to the holy of holies temples and pray through a priest. With Christ, our body now BECOMES the temple and Christ lives IN us. So because Christ is now residing IN us -- we have to keep the temple as clean as possible. Christ also did away with the idea that we have to pray through priests -- now we have a direct line from our prayer directly to God through Christ -- not through priests.

So -- the reason you cannot smoke pot, smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol, or anything else detrimental to your health is because your body, once you accept Christ as your savior, now becomes a holy temple and should not be defiled.

Having said all that -- I think you already knew this answer but you wanted to see it in print.

Here is your sign.

In love.

God (choose which one you prefer) provided me with this seed to grow. To which I did and later reaped it's harvest.
And it was very nice indeed.
Am I sinning? Well, I'm sure I'll be forgiven at the end of the line. Failing that, it's a massive smoke out with the devil for all eternity

"I'm a Christian and i smoke weed after all it was HIM who made the hemp seed!" hah love Yeshua and love erb its NOT a sin at all look on the first and second page on the bible God made it and said that is was good! he said it shall be for you 'as' meat (meat has spiritual implications in scripture hence he compares herb to meat) it makes us more spiritual, i smoke and pray and read my bible for hours everyday and HE reveals SO much to me, in revelations it tells us that in the end times man will make illegal certain meats witch HE has given to us as food ,and i dont see beef or chicken illegal so i can only assume its talkin about the herbal meat referred to in Gen.... i do however believe that it opens our minds to the spiritual world so if we have the Holy spirit and are protected it is a great spiritual enhancer but if we don't have the holy ghost and smoke its like opening or minds to demons, i pray and give thanks before every bowl and ask that it not run empty and it never does, i always find more erb when i run out , especially when i pray about it!! , God loves us and wants us to enjoy HIS creation witch Noone can make illegal, dont believe satan and the media's lies it is not a drug its a plant, it will be on the new earth when JESUS is king, do u think he will outlaw his own creations? no way , we are in the end times now! dont give up hope and dont stop praying!!, God Bless

Re: Is Smoking Marijuana A Sin? Christian Perspective!
there is no one answer you are looking for scripturally, but i guarantee it will massively improve your prayer life and relationship with God as you start to quit. that is something just about anyone i'm aware of would tell you is a benefit to quitting. we can argue from Greek, "pharmakoeia" or "pharmakon" thus, sorcery, thus drug use but i already know you're not at a stage in Christian development to see any benefit to this argument. most important for you at this point is establishing a firm connection with your Creator and a good foundational knowledge of His Word. if you want to see improvement in these areas, it's a very good idea to quit using weed.

you are held to account primarily for what you know. you can say you do not hold this as a conviction, that may be your current mindset. but if you know this to be true, then setting aside doctrine and laws for a minute, which you may be fine with or without, we are now implicating your relationship with Christ. if you know you will become stronger in knowledge and in communion with God by dropping the smoking, then it would seem good for you to quit, i think.

The bible states our body is a temple. Sadly many use that verse only when conveinient ( IMO)

We put things in our body every day that are not "natural" fast food, caffeine, and probably some prescription medicines, we pierce our ears and other body parts, we tattoo ourselves up etc...

Some people can smoke pot once and awhile and be perfectly fine, some cannot leave it at that. (once in a while)

It's funny, this is not a trick question in your OP but it's very difficult to answer! Alcohol is ok in moderation, therefore I don't see why a bit of natural tobacco or marijuana isn't ok in moderation, it depends on what your reasons for smoking are, perhaps? You cannot idolize that vice, and I think once one gets beyond the point of depending on that high (no matter which it is) and rely on God and his love for that "high" great feeling, you find you really have no desire for that vice anymore.

I guess what you really need to ask yourself is... How would you feel if Christ stood in front of you whilst you smoked? Would you be embarrassed? Ashamed?

You tell me it's wrong, how do you know?

Now i get hassled by cops all the time,
Soon as they run a make on my name,
you've been busted for drugs, they say
Now we'll try to put you away!

If it's so wrong, then tell me this,
Did God fuck up, by creating cannibis?
He created it for us to enjoy!
Now LEGALISE IT, and let's all get high!

I wrote this many years ago in my youth, after another bust by the cops..... I was a bit peeved!peace

Re: Is Smoking Marijuana A Sin? Christian Perspective!
Here is my take: Smoking marijuana is a sin only because it is illegal. Breaking the law IS a sin, unless it conflicts with God's law. Which abstaining from drugs does NOT.

If it were legal, I don't believe it would be a sin. As long as it were used responsibly, and in moderation. Just like alcohol.

But the fact remains that for now, it is against the law.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2536981

1) Smoking Pot since it is illegal, is a sin. As a Christian you are to obey the civil authorities. They are God's representatives, controlling lawlessness.

2) Drugs fall under the category of pharmacopeia, which is part of the Term for Witchcraft in the Bible. Strictly forbidden.

3) As stated in another post, It defiles the Body, as the Temple of the Holy Spirit that is forbidden.

As Marijuana contains the same cancer-causing chemicals as tobacco, it also causes various lung diseases, thus defiling the body. As well as new findings showing possible links to mental illness caused by continual usage.

So it is a Sin on many levels.

You’re in the wrong religion amigo…
=====================================

The Green Prophet, Khizr al-Khidr:
Islam's Patron Saint of Cannabis

As noted by Joseph Campbell over a century ago, in his epic 1894 study for the Indian Hemp Drugs Commission, On The Religion of Hemp: "To the follower of Islam the holy spirit in bhang... is the spirit of the great prophet Khizr, or Elijah."

In the 1990 book Green Man, William Anderson describes Khizr as "the voice of inspiration to the true aspirant and committed artist. He can come as a white light or the gleam of a blade of grass, but more often as an inner mood. The sign of his presence is the ability to work or experience with tireless enthusiasm beyond one's normal capacities."

A Word from the Indian Hemp Drugs Commission
"To forbid or even seriously to restrict the use of so gracious an herb as hemp would cause widespread suffering and annoyance and to large bands of worshipped ascetics, deep-seated anger. It would rob the people of a solace in discomfort, of a cure in sickness, of a guardian whose gracious protection saves them from the attacks of evil influences, and whose mightly power makes the devotee of the Victorious, overcoming the demons of hunger and thirst, of panic, fear, of the glamour of Maya or matter, and of madness, able in rest to brood on the Eternal, till the Eternal, possessing him body and soul, frees him from the haunting of self and receives him into the Ocean of Being. These beliefs the Musalman devotee shares to the full. Like his Hindu brother, the Musalman fakir reveres bhang as the lengthener of life, the freer from the bonds of self. Bhang brings union with the Divine spirit. "We drank bhang and the mystery I am he grew plain. So grand a result, so tiny a sin."

Haydar's Emerald cup
Give up wine and drink from the wine of Haydar {Hashish},
Amber scented, green the color of emerald.
It is presented to you by a Turkish gazelle, slender,
Swaying like a willow bough, delicate.
In his hand, you would think, as he turns it,
It is like the traces of down on a rosy cheek.
The slightest breeze makes it reel,
And it flutters toward the coolness of the continuing breeze.
The grayish pigeons coo upon its branches in the morning.
And the cadences of the warbling doves cause it emotion.
It has many meanings the like of which are unknown to wine.
Therefore do not listen with respect to it to the words of the old censor.
It is virginal, not deflowered by rain,
Nor has it ever been squeezed by feet or hands,
No Christian priest has ever played around with a cup containing it,
Nor have they ever communion from its cask to any heretic's soul...
Nothing has been said expressly from Malik to declare it unlawful,
Nor is the hadd penalty for its use... prescribed...
Thus take it with the sharp edge of steel.
Stay the hands of worry with kyff and achieve joyful repose.
Do not lightly postpone the day of joy till tomorrow.
'The days will show you what you were ignorant of,
And someone for who you did not provide (to serve as your
messenger) will bring you the news'

this is what i can tell you i know for a fact. i have been smoking pot for ten years now+-. i have learned that 1. if your will power is not strong enough it will make you lazy. 2. it wont kill you. 3. will it lead to other drug use? again like with my first point if your will is not strong enough. 4. is it morally wrong to use? again if your will power is not strong enough it could cause you to make such decisions. 5. will it make you hungry and sit in front of the tv pigging out for a few hours? you bet your ass it will. look the point i am trying to make is that with a little common sense and some responsibility and moral fiber there is nothing wrong with a person taking a hit or 2 in the privacy of their own home after a long day of hard work. but remember to not let yourself think that there is ne thing in this world you need to get by. we were born with everything we need in life to succeed. so no it is not a sin.

Whatever is not of faith is a sin. Put God first in everything and conciser the rest dung.
If you are having trouble giving up weed than put it down and walk away. I had the same thing happen to me. I loved smoking weed and it was the hardest thing to give up. Do a study on witchcraft. It is forbidden in the bible (Galatians 5:19-21).

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

If you look up the original word translated witchcraft in the concordance, it will give you the Greek word pharmakeia, where we get the word pharmacy.
Here is the definition
1) the use or the administering of drugs

2) poisoning

3) sorcery, magical arts, often found in connection with idolatry and fostered by it

4) metaph. the deceptions and seductions of idolatry
[link to www.blueletterbible.org]
Now that you know this, do you want to continue in witchcraft?
