Message Subject Is Smoking Marijuana A Sin? Christian Perspective!

I understand your situation. I used to smoke weed and read my Bible at the same time. I was a Christian and wanted to live my life in freedom and victory, but I smoked cigarettes and I loved weed. That was the hardest thing for me to give up.

When I smoked pot, it opened my spirit (unnaturally) and I could "feel" the spiritual world. In fact, it was the only time I actually "felt" anything from God. (At that time). My understanding was heightened, and everything seemed to be so much clearer.

The operative word there is "seemed to" be clearer. It really wasn't. My spirit was open, but I was yielding control of areas of my life to satan. I wasn't really benefiting from what I was doing except bringing deeper conviction and guilt into my life with no way to get rid of it.

There is one thing about God and sin. It's not sin if you don't know it's sin. But if you ask whether it's sin or not then you are admitting to yourself that you really do know it is. You're just look for someone to "give you permission" to do it. We are accountable to what we know. And the truth is when you smoke pot your thinker never turns off and you always mull over the real issues of life. This is one you can't outrun.
I will pray for you that God will reveal the truth. Just remember. God does know that you know.

Thank you for that, what you say sounds convincing and realistic but i just dont know why it would be something we would have to stay away from because its not destructive in nature, it doesnt destroy the body and nobody has ever died from it! what makes it different from like caffeine or birth control, you know the list goes on, those are classified as drugs as well so what makes that ok and marijuana not when only the goverment portrays it as being so bad and so destructive but really just passes a bill to ban it so other companies can make money, before that in some states it was illegal for it not to be grown because it could create so much resources and as a medicine and it was free so there was no profit in it, so they banned it. before that there was no negative view on it! so my question is without all this media hype about marijuana or weed the drug that fries your brain but was an active ingredient in almost all medication before the bill was passed! Just looking at Canabis as a plant and the bible that we have here, what makes it a sin? thank you

I have a question for you. Is it a sin to you? When you think about standing in front of Jesus one day (very soon) do you feel any fear when you think about it?

You see, it's not a question of whether it's illegal or whether it's used in medicines on not. The question you have to answer for yourself is what does it do to your spirit? Sure, you get high, your eyes get red, you giggle a lot, and you get the munchies. But there is more going on here than what is going on physically. Your spirit (the part of you that communicates with God) is being assaulted by demonic forces through an open doorway in the spirit realm that you cannot see. God gave us a conscious mind, a sub-conscious mind, and an unconscious mind. Each part of our mind has a job to do and protecting the spirit is an important part of that job. When you use a mind altering drug it removes the conscious mind from doing its job and leaves your spirit wide open for attack.

I wish I could tell you, "go ahead", you only live once, but we both know that once is all we get.
