Is Smoking Marijuana A Sin? Christian Perspective!

Thank you for that, what you say sounds convincing and realistic but i just dont know why it would be something we would have to stay away from because its not destructive in nature, it doesnt destroy the body and nobody has ever died from it! what makes it different from like caffeine or birth control, you know the list goes on, those are classified as drugs as well so what makes that ok and marijuana not when only the goverment portrays it as being so bad and so destructive but really just passes a bill to ban it so other companies can make money, before that in some states it was illegal for it not to be grown because it could create so much resources and as a medicine and it was free so there was no profit in it, so they banned it. before that there was no negative view on it! so my question is without all this media hype about marijuana or weed the drug that fries your brain but was an active ingredient in almost all medication before the bill was passed! Just looking at Canabis as a plant and the bible that we have here, what makes it a sin? thank you

Now you are thinking for yourself. You knew the answer but you was looking for a bit of back up. The Bible is your back up. Do not let some fast talker tell you it is a sin just because some greedy Devil created a law saying it is. Man makes all kind of laws and every damn one of them is BS. We live in a Bullshit Three Ring Circus and our Creator is about to teach those assholes a lesson one way or another. They are starting to break.

Read your bible and stop listening to anything on TV. TV is mind control programming. You should be able to see the people who still spout the BS they hear on TV or the Gov. Keep your nose clean and follow the Bible. The Bible is a guide but the truth is much deeper. The Catholic Church has revised our Bibles so much they only tell part of the story. Jesus will not be found in the church. Jesus is a light that you can receive if your open to it. Sounds like you are so please stop worrying about the BS media or their man made laws. Weed is what brought me closer to Jesus. I was almost dead after ten years of man made poison from drug dealers in lab coats. I told Jesus to either let me die or heal me. Shortly after this prayer I started researching natural herbs for pain. Guess what I found. Took me four months to come off the EVIL Man made poison. I dropped nine scripts for one herb.

His Word tells us that drug use is a work of the flesh...see Galatians 5:16-21. The translated words used in the Bible are "sorcery" and "witchcraft" - comes from the Greek word "pharmakeia" - its where we get the word(s) for pharmaceuticals or pharmacy!

Here's the thing - if you want to quit using pot...go to Him! Tell Him you want to quit! Ask Him to take the desire for weed from you...He will take it from you! I know...I used to be a major pot head and I LOVED smoking weed! I went through the same mental gyrations you seem to be going through now, but don't get all wadded up over it - let Him do the work of taking pot away...He will! Be careful that you don't blow a gasket trying to win that battle by your own strength!

I remember back in 1990, I was told by an acquaintance that I was an alcoholic...so, I went to AA - read the big book, got my chips and made the rounds...even started speaking at meetings from Malibu to O.C. One night I was at meeting and I heard that still small voice say, "Joe...look around, what do you see?" I said, "I see a lot of people...some using and drinking and some are not using and drinking!" Then the voice said, "look again...what do you see?" Again I looked around...and then I heard, "some of these people are using and drinking and some of these people are not using and drinking...BUT, they are all still under the bondage of drugs and alcohol!" I "got it" right then and there! God is a deliverer...in the completest sense of the word, God delivers completely, and He will deliver you as well! The fact that your stressing over weed is enough of an answer for you...your heart is being pricked...ok, so face it with Him...tell Him...honestly confess to Him where you are at with weed and then tell Him you want Him more then you want weed! He will do the rest! As long as your open and honest with Him, He will move in and clean house! Cool thing is, is you wont miss it! Its been 20 years for me...I have NO desire whatsoever to alter my mind with weed or beer...none! And I am NOT under the bondage of either! In fact, every once in awhile, my wife can crack a beer and hand it to me, and it often gets left half empty on the kitchen counter...I'm just not that interested in it anymore...no desire for it...no struggle...this is where you need to be!

Is smoking marijuana a sin? First off let me tell you a little about myself! I am 22 years old and I love Jesus with all my heart, hes the reason i live and have the urge to continue to live! I am patiently waiting for his return to gather us up to be with him! Over the last 2 years of my life I made a complete U turn, basically I was clubbing 3-4 times a week, having pre-marital sex, getting smashed 3-4 times a week (goes along with the clubbing) you know basically the life that we are all told is the fun and cool life to live! I was born into the church and attended my whole life but never took it seriously at all, Just basically thought o well if this Jesus guy is real then ill just go to church once a week and be ok! I thought i was safe but was really living no better than anybody else and not being an example to others. I started smoking week at 19 years old and would say i smoke about 1-2 joints a day (usually at night cuz it relaxes me and i like to munch out lol) So basically to cut this story short, took a step back at my life and changed it! I started reading the bible for the first time in my life at 20 years old and it changed my life! I felt the spirit of god and it was the greatest feeling ever! I got baptized about 6 months ago and it was great, I always put it off because i was embarrassed of going to the front and getting baptized in front of a church attendance of around 500 people! So basically through this whole experience and even though i have been raised in the church my whole life and knew almost every story in the bible I found my newly found faith and Found Jesus my savior!

I live my life to the best of my ability and have cut off basically everything in my life that was sinful! including the hardest thing Sex! Keep in mind i am in a 4 year relationship with my girlfriend and I wasn't living as a christian for about 3 of those years! so it was very hard to cut the sex out until marriage! It was hard but it felt wrong and i knew i was sinning intentionally!

So to the question! I still smoke weed, i enjoy having a joint before bed and i dont feel like i am sinning when i am doing this at all! God created all things good and i see nothing wrong with marijuana!

pretend the media never existed, and you never heard of marijuana before! If you were to see somebody roll up this plant and smoke it would you look at them and be like o my you sinner! how could you smoke that plant! I see nothing wrong with it as long as you use it properly, the bible states nothing is wrong with it and it doesn't affect my life negative at all!

Nobody can give me a concrete answer and I am always left wondering and praying for god to let me know if this is a sin! please help! any fellow Christians out there with any thoughts on this? thank you!!

Is it more or less sinful to let a doctor perscribe you some heavy med when a little of what grew in the ground will help and not cause any of the side effects of a scrip? Or is there any difference at all?
Drugs are drugs are drugs. The stuff most religious people will say are OK, are in most instances more harmful than what God grew in the ground. If you feel like you could stand in front of God and be cool with it, then you are fine. God will convict you if it's wrong, but you are the only one who can decide that.

I have been asking myself the same exact question lately, ever since putting off smoking chron.

Ask yourself this question; is smoking weed bringing you closer to Jesus or further away from him.

I literally just asked a christian friend ( whom happen to beep in while I was typing this very statement on my phone) this very same question. Suddenly the conversation turned ugly. He thought I was high and in the middle of smoking weed and was offended that I didn't invite him over to smoke weed with him. Then he told me I wasn't making any sense so he would have to let me go. Wow. Note: I haven't smoked in 3 weeks, and I am far from high.

This just makes me think the bad outweighs the good over such a substance.

It makes you paranoid in social situations, makes you lazy and, you eat up all the food in your cabinets.

Faith in god comes from hearing the word he speaks to you and obeying what he instructs. Ask him.

My 'friend' said (shortly before the convo turned ugly and he hung up,) that he believes it is each persons choice and that they do so at their own discretion. He also said that if you were to ask church people about it, they would say it is a sin.

I prayed and asked for confirmation from scripture. I opened to a passage that eluded to not wasting your money of which God has supplied to you. I then rationalized this by thinking I could just grow my own. Good Luck trying that.

If smoking weed makes you a dead beat lazy flop who neglects to clean up your room, take regular showers, take your children to church and to the park, and alots for you to make excuses and put off everything till the next day or month (like my roommate who also claims to be christian); I would say smoking it is worthless.

Your blood will not be on my hands for you to rationalize your intended behavior. Look how far you have come. Don't let anything get in your way now.

You remind me a lot of myself. My story is near identical. Of course it is not a sin, it is from this planet earth that our Creator who loves us. Indians, the purest forms of life on earth in my opinion, regularly used substances such as pot. Heck, when I smoke pot I feel more spiritual and motivated to read my bible.

That being said, just don't let it control your mind and it's alllll good.

god made sabath for the man, not man for the sabath. as you get older, you'll hopefully learn to take everything in moderation. aside from living for christ, you need to also live. and that requires balance. dont go down that bad road. keep your bearings. get through the days of play. dont do anything stupid like knock some chick up while you're high. if you must smoke, do so in moderation, and make time for scripture while you smoke. it will definitely enhance your perspective of the word. also educate yourself on other scripture. ganja is God's ritalin. use it to your advantage. remember that God isnt a bearded guy in a chair, he's all of creation at once. so dont take yourself so seriously or you'll defeat the entire purpose. have fun, be smart and mature, and learn at the same time. 'God' wants you to become wise by any means. wisdom comes through knowledge which comes through experience. just be moral and smart. restrain. balance. and moderation.
