Re: Is Smoking Marijuana A Sin? Christian Perspective!
Perhaps you are not convinced because those deluded by drugs are telling you it is okay. It is NOT okay. If you really want to see the results of pot smoking or alcohol use, try looking into Dr. Amen's photos of MRIs done on the brain after chronic pot use or alcohol use. It deteriorates the brain - don't trust me -- look at the objective evidence.

Christians do not run around telling people to stop doing things because they are fun and Christians don't want anyone to have fun.

They tell people to stop doing things that are harmful to them.

Let me put it another way. In order for Satan or evil to work a couple of things have to happen. The first thing is a lie has to occur. However this lie is going to look very very close to the truth. Why? Because people won't believe something that is obviously a lie. But they will believe something that is almost the truth. Satan is very cunning. He makes something very bad look good. We have to really see clearly to determine what is bad and what is good because the two look very close. So remember that.

The next thing that has to happen for Satan/evil to work is that people have to be blinded to the truth -- those people surrounding the person whom evil is working on. So in other words when Satan is working he blinds the person to what he is up to and ALSO blinds those around that person. He has to do this -- or again -- evil could not exist. So again -- we have to be very careful to be sure we are not wearing blinders as to what is really going on.

The people telling you pot is okay are people who smoke pot. They are you telling you it is okay because they do not want to change what they personally are doing.

If you want to quit smoking pot -- try hanging with a different crowd. When you hang with the non pot smokers they are going to tell you pot is bad for you.

There are many reasons it is bad for you. The primary reason is that it is illegal and you have to compromise who you are to do something illegal. That is a moral issue. The second and to me the most important reason is that despite what other pot-smokers are going to tell you (and try to convince me of) is that it is harmless. It is NOT harmless. I do not believe that for one second. I listen through my walls to the guy next door to me smoke weed, cough and hack and spit and puke and then stumble to the convenience store next door to harass people getting out of their vehicles for spare change. He will be the first person to stand up and tell you how wonderful weed is. It sure is. What a wonderful life it is for him.

You are not going to be convinced by me, but yet I have a gut instinct that you know the truth.

When you are ready to clean up your life and move toward integrity, move away from doing something illegal that is affecting your brain and thinking. Move toward a different crowd of people.

You are asking the right questions from Christ who lives within you.

Good luck on your journey.

I do not have a PhD. I probably have several degrees from the school of life. I have seen more of evil than anyone who reads this can imagine.

Move towards the light. It is not the easiest route but it is the most rewarding.

Marijuana is a very sacred plant. This is the main reason I do not go to Church anymore. Do you know who controls the church? The same group that runs this country. If your church is tax deductable than you are not getting the true story. Do you think God created a plant with so many uses if it was a sin to use it? You need to learn to think for yourself and stop getting your info from a middle man like the pastor. If you really believe in God than you should no the answer. You said you read the bible and if you do then you missed a few chapters. Peace to you. Yes God created this fine herb. This fine herb was put on earth so humans would have a natural medication instead of the Man made poison that is peddled on every street corner.

Peace man and I hope you learn to think on your own. If your a Christian then you would know a sin. Man made marijuana a sin and the church supports it. Shame on them.

"And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more. -- Ezekiel 34:29

"Lord, when did we see thee sick or in prison and came unto thee?" And the King will answer and say unto them, "Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethern, ye have done it unto me." -- Matthew 25:39-40

What is the Word of God on the Cannabis plant?
The hemp plant (scientific name: cannabis, slang: marijuana) is one of the many useful herbs "yielding seed after its kind" created and blessed by God on the third day of creation, "and God saw that it was good." (Genesis 1:12) He gave hemp for people to use with our free will.

God said, "Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed which is upon the face of all the earth.…To you it will be for meat." … And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. (Genesis 1:29-31) The Bible predicts some herb's prohibition. "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times, some shall … speak lies in hypocrisy … commanding to abstain from meats which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. (Paul: 1 Timothy 4:1-3)

The Bible speaks of a special plant. "I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more." (Ezekiel 34:29) A healing plant. On either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare 12 manner of fruits, and yielding her fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. (Revelations 22:1-2) A gift from God.

How was cannabis used in Biblical times and lands?
Cannabis was used 12 ways: clothing, paper, cord, sails, fishnet, oil, sealant, incense, food, and in ceremony, relaxation and medicine. For so the Lord said unto me, "I will take my rest and I will consider in my dwelling place like a clear heat upon herbs. For afore harvest, when the bud is perfect and the sour grape is ripening in the flower, he shall cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks and take away and cut down the branches." (Isaiah 18:4-5)

What about cannabis today?
Hemp today has thousands of uses. Modern technology has devised many new uses for the hemp plant&emdash;like biomass energy, building materials, fuel, plastic and so on. Hemp is ecological and its seed is among the best food crops on Earth. Selected varieties produce flowers that provide an herbal relaxant and a spiritual tool. Its herb is used globally as medicine."

Re: Is Smoking Marijuana A Sin? Christian Perspective!
I think that you really know the answer to this question, but I will give you the short and long version.

1. Short version. Yes, smoking marijuana is a sin. The definition of "sin" is "missing the mark". Using any mild-altering substance (alcohol, pot, any other non-prescribed medication) is altering your brain chemistry and by definition "a sin".

2. Long version. Why is altering my brain chemistry missing the mark? Doing anything that harms your body is missing the mark. Your body is the temple of Christ.

When did my body become the temple of Christ?
Under the old testament, animals were sacrificed for mankind's "missing the mark or sin". People brought animals to the temple and the priest went into the "holy of holies" and sacrificed these animals to God so that mankind could be forgiven. (OLD TESTAMENT WAY)

Under the new testament, Christ did away with the sacrifice process and BECAME our eternal sacrifice, for our past sins, our present sins and our future sins. So we went from having animal sacrifice to Christ being our eternal sacrifice. (that is why he had to die on the cross).

Now, since we don't sacrifice animals anymore, Christ also did away with the idea that we had to go to the holy of holies temples and pray through a priest. With Christ, our body now BECOMES the temple and Christ lives IN us. So because Christ is now residing IN us -- we have to keep the temple as clean as possible. Christ also did away with the idea that we have to pray through priests -- now we have a direct line from our prayer directly to God through Christ -- not through priests.

So -- the reason you cannot smoke pot, smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol, or anything else detrimental to your health is because your body, once you accept Christ as your savior, now becomes a holy temple and should not be defiled.

Having said all that -- I think you already knew this answer but you wanted to see it in print.

Here is your sign.

Clasic BS. Horse manure...

The real reason it isn't good to smoke pot is because it opens your spirit up to the demonic spirits and you cant discern the ungodly spirits from the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is within you and when you alter your state of consciousness you are impeding your ability to hear from the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit will let you know if you should stop smoking pot, and if you don't follow the Holy Spirit guidance then He will stop guiding your life, and His protection for your life can be removed. He didn't remove it, your choice to disobey is what removes it.

OP, I've been through this exact same battle, and taken things from one extreme to the other for half my life. I am a 33 year old believer. In my opinion, much (and I mean MUCH) of Christianity today is made-up rules and weird B.S.

The point of Christianity is to understand one basic thing: God loves the world, and reconciled the world to Himself, so we should love and forgive others.

The Bible says that "Touch not, taste not, handle not," are humankind's rules. Pathetic attempts to be holy in an effort to be like God.

The only way to be like God is to love. Everything else will fall into place. If God leads you to do something, or not to do something, then listen to Him. Don't try to figure it out based on what others say. Study and pray for yourself. Bless you, man.

Here is my take: Smoking marijuana is a sin only because it is illegal. Breaking the law IS a sin, unless it conflicts with God's law. Which abstaining from drugs does NOT.

If it were legal, I don't believe it would be a sin. As long as it were used responsibly, and in moderation. Just like alcohol.

But the fact remains that for now, it is against the law.

Re: Is Smoking Marijuana A Sin? Christian Perspective!
Most people ask this question as a means of justifying use. The Bible teaches it is God that justifies not man. I smoked for a long time every day, probably 5-6 times a day. I had to wake up and realize I was a hypocrite. For me, being a Christian is being Christ-like. I know 100% for a fact, the God I worship did not go around passing J's and getting high with everybody. The Spirit of Christ reveals this to those that believe. If you are a non-believer, why even ask if it's a sin if you don't believe in sin anyways? Why justify if you don't 100% believe in sin? That's just foolishness :/ .

For us believers, we are not called to self-gratification, we are here on a mission to reveal who the Son of God is. This world is not our home and neither is anything in this world a part of us, except the Spirit of Truth.

Everything on this planet is a vanity. In all your affairs, fear God and keep His commands.

Getting high all the time will prevent you from pleasing God. God is giving us eternal life, everything we could ever imagine and then some. He didn't create us to love Him, He created us to love us. Once you realize that Truth, the Truth about who God really is, then you will see how to live your life in honor and duty.

Pick up your cross and follow Him. Deny yourself in humility.

This can seem really overwhelming, but that conviction you have in your heart is the Spirit of Truth. For those who have no shame, yikes. That's a rough spot.

If you find yourself searching "well lookie here in the Bible", "God created marijuana, man created beer", "it doesn't cause cancer, in fact it heals it!", "it's the government's fault for a bad label!" then you gotta search within and see your intent. When we are at the great white throne judgment, we won't have a chance to defend ourselves thank God. Our minds are warped by this world, I'll let the one and only everlasting God and Holy One speak on His behalf for my behalf any day.

It's not me who fights universal sin and declares what is right and what is wrong. That is the point of your faith, do you believe in yourself and your actions, or are you and your actions based off your understanding of the Truth of God.

This battle of good vs. evil is beyond our complete understanding, it's far more intense than we can truly grasp, which is why our salvation is so great.

You have to decide for yourself what you want to do in life.

Just know that when you go to court, you can present all the facts you want about your decisions and why you did them, but it is the judge's gavel. Any doubt about you obeying the law 100% is a judgment against your favor. If you see this as impossible, it is. The knowledge of passing this sentence is a gift of grace, what you do with it is up to you, but make sure you don't go to court over and over again for the same crimes you willingly commit. Your knowledge and faith in Him will save you if you honor the Spirit of love, Him.

Faith without works is dead.

Honor love, love will honor you.

Use that sword to cut your shell. Denial of self is the enemy of the world.

Hate to say it, but those who don't deny themselves will be seen as cowards in the day of judgment. It's easy to do what you want, it's hard to live for Christ, those are the warriors.

This message isn't for everybody, it's for someone that knows the Truth, has fallen, but is being called to rise above. It is a reminder to you that you are a soldier in the war against wars. Pick up your shield, pick up your sword, throw on the crown of a king, and fight son.

Re: Is Smoking Marijuana A Sin? Christian Perspective!
And to all you who bash christians in searching for truth, or at least trying to help...do you realize how rediculous that is, telling others what you think is sin and not, but not believing in sin at all?

Sharing your beliefs and getting genuinely pissed on something you dont believe in.

That's like a group a 30 year old men arguing over how much santa clause weighs, and killing someone over it...laughable.
