In what is perhaps the most significant breaking news we've heard on the GMO front in a long time, an effort has just been announced in California that seeks to gather enough signatures to put an historical initiative on the ballot which would require the labeling of GMOs in foods.


This is good news. I hope they can get it on the ballot.

The lie that GMO food is identical to natural food must be exposed. All of the animal studies show that GMO foods are unsafe and unfit for both human and animal consumption.

The animals that consume it have high rates of sterility. Every generation gets weaker than the last. Eventually farmers will have to stop feeding their livestock GMOs or they will go out of business.

Here's a scary story about a new micro-fungus linked to Roundup herbicide which is used mostly on GMO crops:

It's not even on the ballot yet.

On a more somber note, it probably doesn't matter now as all calif food is going to be poisoned anyway from fukushima radiation.

I was shopping for oil today and got the organic olive oil. I got to thinking, corn oil...all those genetically altered seeds...I bet they won't say "Made from genetically modified corn" on it. Now that would be the proposition to put on the ballot! Thank goodness Starbucks uses organic soy milk...but does that mean the seeds aren't genetic mutants, too? I wonder.

the very least they SHOULD do is alert us,

They should also require mandatory food source labeling.

So you know food source and *if* you like "FunnyFarm KS" products you can keep buying and avoid "FunyFarm China" instead of giving us no indication where product originated.

Heck I would like to see entire source printed on the box, originated, packaged, processed, ... etc.
