Turkey is a sovereign nation, it is free to defend and protect is vital interests as it sees fit, no one wants the U.S to be the policeman, including the U.S itself(at last check) Turkey has not started any wars lately last I checked. Turkey is the most secularist nation amongst ME countries, it is a wonderful place to visit to boot(been many times) The U.S is the biggest arms dealer in the world. Why is this hard to understand? The military industrial complex is your biggest cash cow. If you worried about what regime and organizationss you sold weapons to, the obvious one would probably be Saudi Arabia and Pakistan first and formost. The F-35 has had lots of reported problems [link to www.defensenews.com] THey are probably trying to offload them to some suckers. Hence Turkey buying them. The F-35 JSF program is HEAVILY in debt. |

It works most of the times. None of the things you mention is true. The guy, he is a charismatic leader indeed, took out of this, at least up to now, better arms. These will be more likely gonna be used were he needs them the most and that is not at his southwest, rather his east/northeast. After all, everybody knows that this kind of weaponry cannot be used against any target.. only to those that US agrees to. I still remember Turkey's move to change the targeting system of their current weapons to include as foes whatever they want, yet this is blocked by the NATO systems. There is nothing about Congress approving NEW F-35's, shifting production of parts to the F-35 to Turkey, the Cobra attack helicopter or the drones! Obama is doing whatever he wants!Congress has actually demanded that Obama CUT the F-35 program and Obama said he would VETO any funding cuts for it.
