I do have a freezer of meant but I also have 1,000 pounds of rock salt stored in seperate 5 gallon buckets. My contingency plan is that if the electricity goes, I will immediately cook all the meat to well done & salt pack.
I have another 100 lbs of sea salt for eating use. Also, the honey I mentioned earlier can be used to preserve dreid fruits. It is also very effective for burn treatment. A strong hive can produce 200 lbs of honey annually.
Quoting: Jane Smith My sweet Jane Smith honey is also very good for wounds as it fights infections, in fact I use it as such all the time on my oversea travels, but have not tried it on burns although will try it next time I have a 3rd degree... Quoting: Quasar On burns as well as cuts, it provides an external microbial barrier to prevent infection, with our bloodflow being the internal barrier. I also use when when I an getting sick, seems to help a good deal. The honey from my hives is only strained to remove wax particles, no filtering & no pasteurization. Heating it above 120 degrees F begins to kill off the beneficial qualities.
