Re: My Weight Loss Secret - TRH/T3/T4 Hormonal Tweaking
OP, how long did it take you to lose the 30 lbs? You mentioned it being a short amount of time, and I'm curious. Also, what dietary changes/lifestyle changes did you make during that time?

I'm nearly 30, am roughly 40 lbs overweight (though aiming to lose 30) and have been losing and re-gaining the same 10 lbs for a year and a half now. I have an intense exercise regimen and have been super faithful with that during that year and a half. My eating has been fairly good; obviously there's some junk in my diet that needs to be eliminated, but really, I should have dropped at least 20 lbs by now.

My thyroid was tested just last week and my doctor says everything's in working order. I'm going to test your suggestions out, and I'd LOVE to see results.

I think I'll be adding cinnamon as well, since I have a wicked sugar addiction. Thanks for your help in this! hf

It was pretty quick, but I wasn't really keeping track of anything. I just hit the treadmill tons on a regular basis - cardiovascular exercise is IMHO the number one exercise for shedding weight. I'd put it at about 2-3 months and the weight was gone, but I'm going off memory here. But what was interesting was I was taking lots of Iodine and lots of Vitamin C.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2686577

Interesting; thank you!

I bought Trophic and Vitamin C this morning. I've taken 3.5 grams of Vitamin C and 10 drops of the Trophic. Is that a good amount of iodine? The bottle says there is 6.25 mg per millilitre.

Three hours after taking it, I have nothing to report. No headaches, no increase in energy, etc. I'm hoping to notice an energy increase; I don't even know what "energy" feels like anymore!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1410805

I started this the day OP posted this. It took about a week for my energy to kick in. I get up every morning at 6am with not problems. I used to lie in bed util 8:30 or 9:00 o'clock. But that is not the best effect I have had, since I was 28, my hair has been getting thinner and thinner. Any way it is thickening up, even my husband has noticed this. Wow I have spent thousands of dollars trying to regrow my hair and all I needed was iodine. A big thank you to OP.catdancecatdancecatdance

Re: My Weight Loss Secret - TRH/T3/T4 Hormonal Tweaking
Hi OP! Today is the first day of taking these pills. I did notice a feeling of nervousness and fast heartbeat come over me for awhile. I think I'll back off that dosage quite a bit because now that you've pointed it out, it does seem a little extreme. No wonder the sales lady was losing alot of weight! I think I'll go ahead and order the trophic instead, it might be safer. One thing that is really strange is it said you could safely up the amount to twice that but to build up to it. That would be 60 mg of Iodine a day. I wonder if it becomes toxic at that amount? I'm surprised they are allowed to sell it!

Thanks for warning me about the dosage! hf
 Quoting: MercyMe

Yah that is pretty strong, you could always take the pills apart and take like 1/10 of a pill a day would put you at 3000 ug, if your trying to save some coin. That's pretty high definitely. Any time your heart is racing the protectorant for all accelerants is Magnesium (so so important) So if your accelerating with juice, or ephedra, or large dosing caffiene etc etc don't forget your Magnesium!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2686577

I just ordered 3 X 9 dollar bottles of tropchic iodine 6.25 mg/ml. Do you just put a big drop from the tip of the dropper in juice or water, and how many do I drop in?
 Quoting: Sungaze_At_Dawn

I take a drink of water, hold it in my mouth, then use the mirror to watch myself drop between 7 - 10 drops. Swallow, and drink more water. I am taking a much higher dose of iodine, though; each drop is supposedly 300 mg (don't quote me on that; that info is either on page 4 or 5).
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1410805

So this is too low a dose, by the dropper then? how would I ensure with this 1500 mcg's???? Thats the amount I'd like to take. Right now I'm painting drug store topical iodine on my arm.

While I was listening to the video of Dr. Brownstein, my husband half listened to it coming and going out of the room. He is now interested in taking the iodine with me. Naturally I have him on higher doses than I started off with, and I told him in about a week we will be increasing his dosage.

Op, I followed the links you provided, and read the comment section on some of the posters there. One person said that her age spots disappeared on her hands. This will be interesting to watch because my husband has an age spot on his temple that I can easily watch without him knowing I am watching lol!

He is also having hair loss issues, and it will be great to see improvement here as well. I was happy to see the one poster on here having success with thickening hair. I hope they return also for updates.

I hope you intend to keep this thread going, because it will be fun to see the reports coming in in time. Not only for the weight loss, but for the other potential side effects of iodine as well.

Edited to add: Just as a reminder, I am the poster with the husband who has cancer.

No I am not full of shit. I had a large thinning spot on the top of my head, about the size of a silver dollar. I am telling you it is gone, my hair is thicker than it has been in years. If I am full of shit so is my husband, my mother and my kids. They all notice that I no longer have this. I must have had hypothyroid. One of the symptoms of low thyroid is thinning hair. I thank the OP for sharing this with us, I was not expecting this at all. I never dreamed that just a little iodine would cause this. Oh and my energy is great, but I have not lost any weight as of yet. I will start watching my diet starting today. Again I thank the OP for sharing.

Also, when I checked out magnesium on the site you recommended, there were several different kinds. Which one do you usually get? Thanks! And great thread! hf

So, sorry I just started to read this thread and if I am asking a question that someone already asked, please forgive.

I would like to know how much iodine and vitamin c is necessary for a woman(overweight) 5'2" 170 LBS. I have tried the HCG diet all weight came back.

Oh, and which brands of iodine are best

Thanks

You guys do realize what you are doing is alkalyzing yourself don't you? Read up on it and you'll find lots of other ways to do this. Another thing to do is 1/4tsp baking soda in water twice a day, or get an alkaline water generator. Green apples are also awesome for this effect, it normalizes your ph levels, with our diet being mainly an acidic one you would be surprised how you feel after just a few days of the diet switch.

OP What do you think of this vit pac?

[link to www.jigsawhealth.com]
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1210277

That stuff is awesome, I didn't even know that you could market a product that suggests a serving size supplying well in excess of the Recommended Daily Allowance. There is some seriously good mix of everything in it in large quantities. The B12 is going to greatly increase red blood cell counts, they even have the RDA allowance of Iodine in it.

Have you ever taken it - how do you feel on it?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2686577

I checked those jigsaw multi packets at the link, that looks like a pretty good product compared to a lot of ones out there. I would question the calcium to magnesium ratio, I would like to see less calcium and more magnesium. Otherwise it's great that it has 2000 mg of Vitamin C and all those trace minerals.

If someone wants to take supplements and doesn't want to think too much and can afford it, that would probably be a good way to go.

If you do your research you can put it together on your own for less money though. Two good discount sources for all kinds of supplements are [link to www.vitacost.com] and [link to www.swansonvitamin.com] I switched from vitacost to Swanson lately. They are both good.

Hi Op! I went to the health food store and bought a supplement called "Terry Naturally Thyroid care." The clerk talked me into buying it. She personally takes it and she said she's lost alot of weight and also has more energy. It says its 30 mg Iodine. It consists of 15 mg of potassium iodide, 7.5 of sodium iodide, and 7.5 mg of molecular iodine. It also has L-Tyrosine 400 mg. It claims on the bottle that L-Tyrosine is needed by the body to produce thyroid hormones.

I was wondering if you thought this sounded like it might work ok. It claims its 20,000 DV. Right now I'm also taking a low dosage of Levothyroid. My goal is to lose 20 lbs and then I'll be in a healthy weight range. Right now, even when I'm really strick on my diet, I still can only lose about 2 pounds a month. I hope this will raise my metabolism so that I can lose about 6 pounds a month. In the past I've always averaged 6 pounds a month with diet and excercise.

Thanks OP! I know I'm a little late to posting this. I hope you're still keeping track of this thread! I appreciate your posting this info!

Just wanted you to know that I appreciate you!

Here's my experience with your regimen and I hope it inspires people to try it out.

I started taking vit c and kelp last week. my results:
More energy....Not wired... subtle yet very real.
Weight loss...I lost 2 lbs without trying.
Better overall mood.

Researching iodine though.... shows that the body needs magnesium and b2 & b3 to metabolize and increase cellular uptake of iodine. I'm going to add them to my daily intake and see what happens.

Op,
Please help. My sister is experiencing severe bloating....NEVER goes down. Her stomach is rock hard all the time. What could be causing this and what do you recommend?

And I know this post begs for the smart asses to come out of the woodwork...please control yourselves..

I had terrible painful bloating and I got rid of it by cutting all wheat and wheat related products out of my diet.

It wasn't hard to do because the pain I got from eating the wheat was so severe and I would blow up like a balloon if I even ate a little bit.

Figured this out by myself and have been eating gluten free for about 4 or 5 years now.

Hope your sister is up for trying it. Better to try that for six months or so and see if it helps than to go to the worthless doctors for their surgery and drugs.

Please please please....have her research and commit to a food elimination diet. What you describe sounds like classic food allergy or intolerance.

There are so many additives and crap in our food supply that it's difficult to make assumptions anymore. In fact, my first theory on your sisters condituion is a dairy/lactose intolerance or allergy. It could be gluten too. But the problem here, is switching to a gluten free diet means eating a lot of corn and soy based foods as a substitute. Corn and soy are hard on the body's digestion plus almost exclusively GMO. Corn and soy are also common allergens!

Even if you don't have an allergy to certain food, the elimination diet makes you aware of how each food effects your body on a subtle level. Something you can never understand til you experience it,

The diet is simple but it's not easy!.... But it's a gift to your body!!!

I don't understand your assumption that eating gluten free means eating corn and soy? I eat no soy at all, and very little corn, almost none.

I don't feel like I am "substituting" anything for the baked goods and pasta. I don't eat imitation baked goods. I just don't eat any of the wheat or related items or anything pre-made that has derivatives of those things in it. I don't "replace" it with anything. I just eat different things that aren't baked goods or pasta.

I also have been a vegetarian for 35 years.

That's awesome! I've done gluten free for years myself :)

True gluten free is: fruits, vegies, rice, dairy, eggs, meat. Most people want variety and look for gluten-free pasta, bread, pizza, cereal, oatmeal, etc,

Now that Gluten-free is becoming more widespread, most grocery stores amd restaurants now carry gf items. It's not imitation food...unlike the fat-free craze of the 80s. Just substitution.

If you looked at the ingredients of those "gluten-free" items, they usually list corn or soy as an ingredient to replace the lost bulk of wheat. sure, there's rice flour and tapioca flour too.

I know people who do gluten-free. And they think nothing of eating corn chips, corn tortillas as well as corn/soy based substitutes in pizza dough.

I know people who are vegetarian yet eat a lot of 'junk food' ...probably because it's quick, cheap, easy and filling. Yet sugar causes all sorts of inflammation and endocrine problems.

So if you took offense at my post ( it want even directed at you), I apologize you didn't see the well-meaning intention behind it.

I also have been a vegetarian for 35 years.

hi No I didn't take offense! I just didn't get the assumption. But I figured out my diet by myself, I didn't do this by buying stuff, if that makes sense.

And for a while I did eat some soft corn tortillas as a cop out item, they are good warmed up in a skillet with grated cheese melted on them with some vegetables, etc and or beans, but of all the things you can eat it seems corn is the most fattening! I quit buying those soft tortillas for a cop out meal. If they're around I just eat them because it's brainless and hardly gets any dishes dirty.

I used to make cornbread from a gluten free recipe once in a while, but I don't seem to be able to digest it very well. I was mixing my own flour substitute from rice flour, tapioca flour, xanthan gum, potato starch or flour, whatever it was. There are good gluten free baking recipes at landolakes.com and they are good because they are not low fat, they have tons of butter, sour cream, etc. But I keep that flour substitute stuff to an absolute minimum.

My diet since about April or May this year has been eggs, cheese, and salad, with a few other steamed vegetables for variety. Been trying to get my calories from fat instead of carbohydrates as per Scorpion's thread. Also eating some yogurt and some homemade trail mix. Peanut butter and celery once in a while. Mainly lots of salad with everything and homemade dressing.

I started exercising the first of the year and have lost 3 dress sizes doing that and eating this way.

Now that the weather is cooler I will make more soups and chili but then my weakness is for crushed corn tortilla chips in the soup. I get the blue ones which aren't from genetically modified corn but I still feel like it's junk food even if it's organically grown. But, so good in soup and chili.

Re: My Weight Loss Secret - TRH/T3/T4 Hormonal Tweaking

Sure - sounds good (but some questions about it..) they covered both the Iodine, and the L-Tyrosine, the feedstocks for the T3/T4. I would simply add lots of Carrots for its Vitamin A, and of course the Vitamin C. The Vitamin A is going to help your Thyroid absorb the Iodine, the Vitamin C is going to increase TRH which is going to call the thyroid to make more (like turning up the thermostat basically of your body). 30mg of Iodine those is a large quantity - like wow! Thats 30,000 mcg, or ug of Iodine. I'm surprised their having people taking it at that levels, and when I have gone above 15,000 in the past (3 drops of lugols at 6,000 ug / drop) I started actually getting less energy, and needing to rest. Do you notice if your experiecing that?

At 30,000 you might even experience discomfort or swelling around your thyroid gland. It literally wraps around your lower neck and if it feels sore or swollen then listen to your body, and try reducing that dosage. Again that is what I would do for myself, as I cannot by law give or treat or recommend personal health advice to any individual.

I stick with a more modest 5-10x the RDA at about 1,500 to 3000 ug, or mcg, but if it works for you and your body is happy kudos! 1,500 to 3,000 is what works for me the best and I have stuck with it for a very long time.

Thanks for mentioning this one, I'm going to look into it.

Hi! When you mentioned you were going to look into it I thought I'd warn you about it. As you see in the posting above, OP said this was an extremely high dosage. I've decided not to take these pills because I was afraid this level of iodine might be toxic.

Re: My Weight Loss Secret - TRH/T3/T4 Hormonal Tweaking

That's awesome, I hope it really does some amazing stuff. Personally I would like to see the entirety of North America learn the nutrional benefits of certain minerals and elements lacking in their diet.

I will definitely keep the thread going checking on it once a day, I am looking forward to seeing results. :)

Op-

Thanks for sharing this. I love when people share their secrets...making positive contributions to society... selflessly helping their fellow humans. Most people try to package their "secret info" and sell it in an ebook.

Thanks for the tip, I'm happy to see everybody become more and more informed and I won't have all the pieces of the puzzle, just some informed information I'm happy to share with everybody!

Interesting your mentioning Magnesium and B2 and B3. I know the natriopathic doctors are HUGE on the magnesium. I follow Dr Deagle a fair bit, and he mentions that 300 enzymatic processes shut down when your magnesium deficient, and that All Cancer patients are also magnesium deficient. So.. Its really important and its sourced in green leafy vegetables, or you can buy high bioavailability Magnesium Citrate from purebulk.com by the kilogram and its inexpensive about 1/8th the cost of buying from walmart.

If a person has Cancer increasing their Magnesium is critical and they need to look at epson salt baths as the epson salts are high in Magnesium.

Thanks op for posting I am taking nootropics Aniracetam and tried Piracetam for help with cognition. I am a recovering alcoholic and have some alcoholic dementia. Not expecting to be Einstein again but I plan on giving the cinnamon and iodine a try.
