We used to see the same thing he describes at our old deer lease in coleman county Texas. I finially got a close look at one of them , and its a plane of some type.
When they are sitting still (hover) they emit a soft ( but bright ) blue or reddish white light that sourrounds the bottom of the craft.
When they take off from the hover they throw sparks of the same color , looks kinda like lightning.
