Civil War in US... Question for you folks!

I have a good friend from tenn. whose family was nuetral in the civil war. They were antislavers and because they didnt take any side they were hated and harassed by both sides.

What would you do today?

Most probable it will be between the rich and poor. History repeats itself and this will end in a dictatorship

Definetley get out of urban areas. Buy seeds and supplies. Have enough food, water, vitamins, and ammo for 6 months. Have a really good first aid kit. Do not tell anyone what your doing. Buy tangible goods to barter. Alcohol, cigs, Medication. Buy the 1881 Household Cyclopedia and the first edition of The Joy of Cooking. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best! GOOD LUCK

good to have the firsthand knowledge, books and supplies, BUT i would argue that unless you are already established and fully living 100% "off the grid" with a very large farm and large family to tend it, you are better off now getting to know your neighbors if you do not already, get active in your community, make a garden in your backyard, find or make a nearby well.

in my experience living in rural areas, suburbs, and now urban, the lazy/sleepy suburbs are going to be the most dangerous and disastrous areas, the rural ones already farming will continue to do so, and the tight-knit urban centers will flourish. in my neighborhood we are aware, we do patrols, have gardens and are working to be self-sufficient right where we are at, as well as coordinating with other like minded community groups.

TRUE! Must have a clan mentality...gather those who you can trust. Have a plan to move quickly. The sheep will panic, they buy out all the stores within 48 hours. Must have guns and ammo to keep any supplies you have stored. DO NOT WAIT any longer if you have not started prepping. I sincerely hope we never experience another civil war. I can understand how people can look back on such an event and see its "usefulness". However, you must remember that the pain and hardship caused by our civil war was very real. I would not wish that experience on anyone.

I will choose sides if it were to come to that and it would be the side i most believe in....but i do not believe that americans have the balls or brains, the motivation or drive, the ability or dedication required to overthrow the ruling elite so , will wait for martial law and do my best to survive until we come out on the other side. Hopefully the survivors will have built some character and we will rebuild a better society. Only time will tell.
