Brutal winter ahead for Midwest

Bitterly cold blasts of arctic air are expected to invade the northern Plains, Midwest and Great Lakes December through January, with Minneapolis hit the hardest, says Accuweather.com.

I love the cold, I love the snow, I love winter....I cannot wait until we receive our first measurable snow fall.

I love winter too. But you must admit by March it starts getting old.

I'm ready to get blasted.

I live in Michigan..never gets too bad here, it's a bit of a disappointment to be honest.
And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it." Amen.

Michigan here too (for better than 15 years now), and I agree that winters just haven't been all that impressive.

I hear stories about the blizzard from the late seventies, my sis-in-law couldn't find her car one morning.

Just took delivery of my fuel oil today, got a couple cords of wood ready for an emergency but still need to get kerosene.

Oh, and I'm actually looking forward to trying my very first AWD vehicle out in the snow. Hopefully I don't do anything stupid while I'm getting used to it.

Just remember, a all wheel drive slides just the same on ice as a two wheel drive. Slow down......I see so many 4WD in ditches, because they drive to fast and think they are impervious.hf

/me nods head

Yup, I've put off getting AWD for a long time because it 'just gits ya stuck deeper and further out' if you don't respect the weather and the road. I've learned on RWD and FWD and haven't embarrassed myself too much so hopefully I won't be one of those people that I see waaaaaay out in a cornfield one morning.

Just across the line from Chicago on the Indiana side. We have had a mild winter so far. Only a couple of sprinkles of snow. I hasn't got very cold here, either. The temps have been mostly in the 40's, even a few 50's. We are at the southern tip of Lake Michigan.

I'm in the Chicago area and we might get the high 40's this Saturday. If it does, our local golf club says they will put the pins back on the greens. That would be great, golf on new years eve !
