Re: Calling all Great Minds: A discussion on Reality
Yey new Chaol thread :)

I have a few schools of thought.

1)

Nothing means anything. Humans are attached to thought, and have created all these things from thought, and because they thought them think it must be how things are, but actually it just is and may or may not turn out ok. For instance, we think computers must be able to get more powerful, and so far we're right, but in actuality there may be a limit. Or we think there must be a clean power source (as we rely on technology so much and at current expansion we'll need it in order to not destroy ourselves) but actually there may not be and we've already set the path to destruction. Along with this it means that we hope that when we die we will continue to exist, but actually we may not.

2)

I exist in a bubble of my own reality, and others exist in theirs. Depending on my unconscious patterns (both desires and fears) I link with others that are like me and the patterns play out together. This could work one of two ways, one being there is only one reality but an "outside something" co-ordinates the likelihood of me meeting up with these others through dropping thoughts / dreams to steer me to them, or there or many realities (all possibilties played out by some conscious entity - perhaps me at some point) and this is just my path at this moment.

3)

I am the only conscious entity at this moment, and everyone else is in on the game but me.. some making me think I'm not the only conscious being, some showing me I am.

4) There is a creator outside of me who thinks it's quite ok to put me through hell and back as long as I'm welcomed with a nice dose of love and the reminder that I can't die / be hurt anyways, so "wasn't that fun!".

Really I don't know. Some experiences have hinted that Reality is *really wierd*, but I keep going back to 1. Mainly because it probably really doesn't mean anything and I'm tricking myself into thinking anything means anything. Which leaves me stuck because I can't lose my attachment to wanting things to mean something, and to want more of the things I prefer, and wanting the ability to make things better *now*. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with much of my life, but there are some things that I no longer see the point of experiencing (I'm SO done with them), and yet they stick around.

Question: if everything we see is the result of dragging past associations into our current situation, then what would we see if we were able to cut all past associations? What would we perceive if we were brand new, newly-born with no past whatsoever?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2533633

For some of us this is exactly what we have come to see, that which we knew or believed to be, in the beginning of our lives. Then it was lost, as we, like all those before us, as we were each indoctrinated into the reality that had existed for thousands of years. But, one by one, many chose to question this reality, were able to see the contradictions, the double standards, the unfairness of it all which did not resonate with our hearts or the memories of our childhood prior to our indoctrination.
We remembered and began to dream that dream for that life we once imagined possible!

Re: Calling all Great Minds: A discussion on Reality
Okay, not trying to be a thread hog, just catching up and wanted to respond to some previous posts. Sorry!

So reality! I imagine it to be something that is in constant flux, ever changing, as our thinking about it changes. And when we are not thinking about it, it is as it is in that moment. I picture myself being born into and onto a big board game. At first I see all these game pieces that are moving and can be manipulated by other game pieces as they move and vie for space within the confines of time. Struggling for acceptance, wanting to be loved and appreciated, equally valued simply for who they are. But, they are challenged by those who have been playing the game for awhile now and the innocence and ignorance of the rules are quickly replaced using the same tactics that are observed and learned through experience.
At first you follow the rules of the game as it exists at any given moment, simply because it seems to be the most logical path to follow. But, the path itself is ever changing, confusing and complicated, even though you might question, you as a child will not necesssarily question. Or if you do you are given a very decisive answer which ends the possibility for debate as you are told, "because I said so!" So it makes it very difficult to see the game for what it is. We just try to do the best we can, until we come to that point in our lives when we begin to challenge how the game is being played and the manipulation of our particular game piece. We start to become more possessive of it and attempt to take total control of our piece, as we dare to challenge those around us. This is typically in our teenage years. Then we are shuttled forth into adulthood and find ourselves entering into another level of the game. Most of us will begin to play the game as our parents played it, taking on the roles we observed them playing, some will change it up a little, but for the most part the underlying, traditonal roles will be played out, simply because that is how it has always been. We cannot see any other choices because in our minds they do not yet exist.
Then something happens, as if someone mysteriously comes along and throws the board and all its pieces to the floor. Pieces are scattered everywhere! We hurriedly and frantically try to pick them all up and put them back where they were. But, in our confusion, we just can't seem to do it. We panic as the fear sets in. OMG! I don't like feeling this way. What am I going to do? Then we slowly come to realize or it may happen in an instant as an 'aha" moment, that as an indiviudal you and you alone are in complete control of the board and you can put the pieces back however you like. The only difficulty is that you find that there are other pieces who will challenge how you place them on this board as you attempt to reset it in the manner most fitting to who you think you are. But the rules have now changed and you are the one making up the rules as you reassembled the board. You find ways to compromise, to jsutify the position you are placing them in, and if they don't like it, you let them know that they are free to go at any time if they do not like your rules, which may happen. Or you might just remove them from your game and take your game elsewhere to find someone who is more willing to play by your rules. Eventually, you come to realize once again, that each and everyone of us, has our own game going on, our own board, and we come together and we share what is going on within our game but we no longer have to share one board. Woohoo!!!!! But, the new rule is you cannot tell anyone else how to play the game. It's like being in one big room, with millions of tables. some are sitting at round tables sharing a board still. Others are fighting over whose board they will use for their mutually shared game and others playing as individuals and sharing with each other what they are learning about their game and maybe moving their game pieces in such a manner that their boards are beginning to look very similar! This is my take on reality!

Reality is a illusion, illusion is a reallity?(yin/yang principle)

Reality is multidimentional, where on one level it may appare true, on an other it appares false, 3rd position seen in contrust, a position of potential reality, empowered by choice.

But what happens when we talk to someone else?

Are we talking to ourselves? Is it any different than sitting in a chair? (Because it's all perception anyway)
 Quoting: Chaol

In a great sense yes.

Communication is two way, I don't mean when the other speaks but mean you project. You project, and you get.

So there was this person who couldn't get along the way they wanted to with this other person yet both said they wanted to. So I said to the one in front of me "you can tell but you cannot dictate the interpretation" (an email), hey maybe they had a bad day, and I said to the other one "read it again".

So, they got together after all. Their differences were an illusion.

We can talk about reality all day, and never reach consensus, untill we stop talking to take part in it again.

Reality is first, then comes logic.

It is before we start talking, even before we start thinking.

On first responce after only reading you first post;

Ones reality must exist only on the here and now and only with what one can see, hear and feel. "staying grounded" , "Here on Earth". Your health is derectally related to your intellegince'

as is your life-style and general area.

THE ASS CONCEPT

Where is your ass ?

How is your ass ?

What is your ass going to do today and is it cool ?

Do you use your ass (as in touch) more than the rest of your boby ?
Like your feet.

Does it give back (to the earth) more than the rest of your body ?
Matter as aposed to bullshit or usefully imformation.

Would you show your ass off ?

Are you a smart dumbass or a dumb smartass.

What is your most favoret thing to put under your ass ?
Is it cool ?

Face it, asses are important.

When ones reality become to assotiated with things that are not in the imemdeate area, ones abillity to exist in that area will most likely require outside assistence (fuel). This could go on and on and is common knowege here.

And.

Yes, there is a right and wrong.

Some CrazyBud thoughts....

In a universe of infinite verses; our reality is a common verse in which we are intrinsically tied.
...you can't change it
...death is transition
...if you cheat death, you my come back here
Question is; do we exist because of each others perceptions, or one singular perception from God?
...is this God's reality, God's verse and we are his dreams?
...does the remaining 89% of brain-matter that we don't use construct our current verse...reality
...mirco and macro realities exist independently
...reality has an owner...who?

"Andvanced concepts and why would one even give then thought"

Cleary we are advanced beings with abilities to do major damage to our general area. Most because of advanced concepts aplied. So we can concieve, create and destroy and thous the link to things not only out of our general area, but out of our time frame of existence (demention).

As an individual person (not even a speck amoung an infinently coulored and and growing univers (that very could be some ones canvas (that has bactiera on it (with a virous))) it can difficult to stay grounded to your general area and concentrate on only doing your own thing.

When influinces of things that are from far away give to a collective hive of intellegiet beings a revers spirol begins, yin-yan, francal, swirl, wirlpool, dare I say reverce-mulit-dementinal-vortex (face it, it's totaly in).

Why make a thread about reality when there is no such thing? Perspective is all there is, so reality is: what your mind is making your eyes see in front of you, right now.

That's very true (the irony of that statement!). It's something I've played with before, and on my own becomes amazing. I could sit by myself for hours playing with it!

However, there comes the problem of "other people". I know that my perception of them is within my own control, but it's still tricky. I haven't mastered the not being pulled into someone elses concepts, which of course are still my own, but difficult to shake..

The nature of reality
while normal- reality just is
on acid- reality is a cartoon of colors and nothing really connects to anything else it all just sort of vibrates against each other or rotates slowly. The concepts we think create reality and the brain connects those concepts to experiences we had before to create an understanding of the concepts.
on mushrooms- everything is hyper real and if you look into the mirror you will see how you look to others and lose all the ego which obscures elements of yourself that others might see but you cannot see about yourself.
on salvia- the world is a frightening jumble of madness that hits you like a sledgehammer and leaves you wondering who you are and what your doing here and whether anything is even real at all.
On DXM- everything has happened before, all moments are the same moment and were a soul controlling a body like remote control. Floating outside and above and behind controlling it like a puppet. The universe is all blending together and time is an illusion, a repeating vibration.
In meditation- reality the universal conciousness

The only way to find out is to transition to a point where you can observe a reality.
...We can watch and influence the lifecycle of lower lower creatures in the kingdom of Earth, but cannot view beyond our kingdom's walls.
...Example is owning an ant farm. They no not how or why...only that food is available twice a week, and the ants think that's reality.
...but after we transition, we will again ask the same questions about our new reality.
...we will only truly know when we can create reality...or become as God.

I will give this a try:

1. We exist "because" of our (own) perceptions, that IS what we are. You only exist now (whatever your now (most relative perspective) is)... You could say (as you likely see it now) your past is gone and your future is not yet here.

2. It is God's reality. You,just you, are God. Or if you doubt you are god and don't believe you are, you do not believe in an all powerful all knowing being. That is god, from your perspective. Once you know everything that is, was and will be, you will cease to exist and be god.

3. No. The brain itself is something you perceive.

4. You.
Nothing is irrelevant.
