So I just purchased a equatorial mount telescope to follow all the celestial happenings so I can have a true understanding of what is really happening in the skies. I put it all together and went out last night to look at the moon first because it would be easy to get the hang of things with such a large object.

My plan is to start monitoring the moon first to get the hang of making detailed observations and move on from that point to fainter objects.

So I go outside last night about 8PM approx. Crystal clear outside, moon was exceptionally bright.

I live close to an airport, and the planes landing fly from south to north on their decent. They also fly from north to south when taking off, when viewed from my house. However, last night around 9PM approx., I started seeing about what seemed three planes flying from east to west, and west to east leaving a thick contrail. The contrails dispersed, but only grew large and created a thick haze in the sky, to the point of the moon becoming blurry. It also caused the moon to look like it had a huge fuzzy halo around it.

At about 10PM Jupitor started rising from the East and so pointed my scope in that direction and could see Jupitor and its 3 largest moons. As I was looking at jupiter, a plane flew right across my view flying from the south-west, towards the north-east, with a thick contrail, that made Jupitor so blurry, I just gave up for the night.

It is supposedly to be relatively cloudy for the rest of the week into the weekend, but I plan on trying to make as many observations as I can.

I want to point out, that it is people like astronut that has provoked me to take actions such as these (although I've always had a desire to get into astronomy anyways and I finally had the money to purchase a decent scope, although now I realize why everyone at the astronomy club I recently attended told me to get an alt-azm mount haha). It was too good of a deal on the scope though so I'll just have to deal with trying to figure out how to get the motor to work for me, instead of against me.

What I don't understand is why they would be chemtrailing at night...

Because "they" aren't do any such thing...at any time during the day or night. It's water vapor from hydrocarbon combustion.
