The problem with watching video (tv, video games, computer, etc. ) constantly as a young child is that the brain is not fully developed. There's a growing body of evidence suggesting that the brain is even being wired differently because of it. What does this mean? I'm not sure, but I would personally say that it accounts for the ever-increasing prevalence of ADHD as children. These children are not able to focus on any stimuli for a length of time as they should. So, how do you teach a child who can't focus for more than two minutes at a time? These children (as often as not) present with lower academic scores and abilities, are impulsive, and make careless mistakes even though they have average IQs.

dont you see? its mostly aimed a the black youth, keep their mind on sex and they never will get out of the ghetto or off foodstamps, lord forbid letting them think about collage or having a goal in life. besides having babies. Sex and drugs are keeping the black man down.

LOL! Always cracks me up to think when I was this guys age we suspected anyone over 30 to be corrupt and the old ladies got RESPECT! What has happened to the youth these days..they are corrupted and that is the TRUTH. By the culture. By the Progressives that has them following their every word (if you want proof go to the Occupy Wallstreet vids). Nothing is more true than the choice we have been given. I believe in Martial Arts where the "standards" are driven home by GOOD LEADERSHIP, DISCIPLINE, PHYSICAL FITNESS, RESPECT, VIRTUE, WARRIORSHIP. I emphasize because not a one of these responses today have said what the solution is on a real person basis. Without REAL training and REAL understanding NO amount of TV screen interaction good or bad can come to REALITY. VERY GOOD CONNECTION OP!

It is a fact, the synopsis in the brain is changed due to T.v. video games, ect. The Smart boards in school. Children are losing the ability to write, due to key boards and we are losing our language due to texting, facebook! Orwells newspeak coming to life!

Perhaps it's more apt to call you one of the lucky ones then, huh? Kids like to play video games - boys especially enjoy the violent ones. This is really no different from my generation (child of the 70s) who played cowboys and Indians, war, Star Wars, etc. I don't think the problem lies in a kid playing video games, some of which have a little violence, so much as sitting for hours on end playing video, watching TV, or surfing the net. Five hours+ per day is five hours not spent reading, interacting with others, playing ball outdoors and getting physically fit, learning how to change the oil in a car, learning to cook/clean, learning how to sew & knit, how to build things from wood, etc. Our children are not learning life skills anymore because they are spending all their time connected. At the end of the day, what do you have to show for those 1700 hours spent playing video games annually?

I even made my kids watch it. Call me crazy, but I wanted them to see what is going on and I wanted the chance to walk them through the process of the video. Our kids will be watching this crap pretty soon.

i agree when i learned all those things my old man was a mechanic and during the day i played out side and helped him then after family dinner i would go to my room and play video games from 8pm till 2am. but i do agree people do need to get out more i love fixing cars and then at night when i am done with school and work i go relax by playing video games ya know

pardon me? just because it\'s a differnt language dosnt mean its wrong. theres nothing bad about this video, its very nostalgic and is def not crap.

I can't speak for the Nicki Minaj video as I know no one that listens to that mainstream garbage but I have literally been playing violent video games of all kinds since I was ~8; I'm not 18 and I don't think that the video games have somehow warped my mind. ITS A GAME FOR CHRIST'S SAKE, I would imagine your a fan of Jack Thompson aren't you OP?

And my Brother it has worked on SOOOOO many! When the cable goes out that is when there will be people in the streets for real!

As a youth myself, going to college, and constantly being surrounded by mainstream media against my liking, I must agree with Lisa. Whether from a religious viewpoint or not, spiritual viewpoint or material viewpoint--it doesn't matter, moral depravity is NOT okay.

Being a young adult in these times and simplye TRYING to avoid the grasp of materialistic messages and peers is very, very hard to do. For instance, I do not have a facebook or a "social network." My peers sometimes look at me like I am crazy for this. I walk around campus and see many suggestive T-shirts, for example, today I saw a guy with a shirt "my mind is dirty but my shoes are always clean." Materialism and sex. I have a couple of friends who say they wouldn't mind joining the army because they are "used to it" because of Call of Duty.

Now, don't get me wrong. I grew up on videogames. I still love playing games like Halo--violent games. What I am saying is we cannot, EVER dismiss these intoxicating messages as nothing serious. These messages ARE serious. how obvious is it to a lot of us on glp that the messages in mass media are evil? I promise you if I walk around my campus asking if my peers view Nicki Minaj as evil, they will laugh in my face.

My girlfriends some is 9. we do not allow T.V. or video games in our house. He finds his friends who get them to be spastic and strange. He kinda feels sorry for them.
