Which mastiff is best? Bully Kutta, Cane Corso, Dogue de Bordeaux, Kangal, or Ovcharka? | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 3156510 United Kingdom 10/12/2011 04:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I would have to go with the Bully Kutta if you have a top notch one. Quoting: which do you think personall 3165331 Cane Corso , if i had to choose I have two male Akitas . Mastiff wreckers . Mastiffs are too big and cumbersome . Ya you have a point. Cane Corso would probably be the least powerful but would have the must speed, agility and endurance. If a Dogue de Bordeaux got hold of one though it would be all over. So I gueess it comes down to application, just like anything. The dog being a tool. Oh and Akitas are great dogs. I would love to get an Akita wolf hybrid or even a pure Akita. You know the best breeders in the states or could you reference anyone who is good? When I get back stateside I plan on getting a dog. Yeah , the DDB is a formidable dog My 10mt old Akita is 135lbs and as agile as a spaniel .If you are seriously considering one , take a look through results at international dog shows and visit the winners websites and contact them . Two bits of advice Be patient . You might have to wait to get the dog you want . I rescued my first two akitas , but waited 3 years for my pup . Do not hint or imply that you are in anyway interested in the breed for macho reasons . They will chase you . Akita breeders , in general , dont want their dogs going to that kind of place . Akita attacks are less common than other power breeds . We want to keep it that way . |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 2555792 United States 10/12/2011 04:34 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've got a male English mastiff. He's wonderful with my kids and a great family dog. My youngest will ride him like a pony. Only time he's ever hurt a kid is when his tail is wagging and smacks a kiddo with it. If a stranger approaches he will get in-between the stranger and which ever family member is closest to the stranger. He will stand straight at 4.5 foot tall, and 225lbs with hair on the back of his neck up. Very common for a stranger to blurt out "oh shit" or some other profanity when they notice the dog. I've had a ups delivery men fall down off the front porch when I open the door and they see the dog. Only negative is he still thinks hes a lapdog. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1184378 Canada 10/12/2011 06:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Tosa Inu beats all the others. Strongest bites, most durability, longest lifespan, biggest hearts, and overall best dog to own. Import one, don't settle for show ones, as they represent nothing spectacular in the breed (like the Japanese counter part). Bully Kutta would be my second pick for that. Most fighting dogs are naturally bred with a stronger immune system. This means, less allergies, longer lifespan, and a well put together dog. Pakistani dogmen practice eugenics with their dog breed, only the best of the best are bred (Japanese do that better though). |

The good; Very Smart Highly affectionate Beautiful Has been great with my young children, we've had a few boo boos but the dog knows they are children and acts accordingly. The Bad; Very Smart Can be overly affectionate but that is probably a puppy thing. STRONG, on leash is a challenge for my wife, we are working on this though. Attracts a lot of attention, some people may like this, I don't care for it. Oh..and as you said, lot's of eye boogies. Overall he is a very good companion. |

Why would anybody buy in to that . Rescue dogs are a lottery . Puppies can be moulded like playdough . bollox mate, all my dogs that had been abused were too big and difficult and unsocialized for most to handle and were at risk of being put down as they are not normally taken in by shelters. Yet in short order, they were housebroken, neutered, their heartworm fixed, their scars healed and they became playful, respectful big babies even with their 4cm fangs, and they finally had a pack to be part of. If you cant handle a dog like that, youre not gonna handle anything that will really fight for you as pack leader when and if that time comes either. My best dog even sat for hours in the car with a packet of a kg of fresh hamburger meat I'd forgotten in the back of the van , the only damage being the 4 tiny dimplesbfrom his fangs in the plastic wrap where he carefully took it and placed it carefully in my seat. Now THAT'S respect from a formerly wild and abused beast large enough to take you out. Absolutely true. The only problem with the larger/largest breeds is that they die way too soon compared to small breeds. Get whatever suits you but there is a special place for those that save an innocent life to a useful purpose |

She never learned there is a weight restriction on being a lapdag!! I have a security camera above our front door. People will knock at the door and it is always funny watching their expressions when they hear her bark/growl. We have a long window next to the door and the best is when they expect the dog to stick its head through the curtain...they never expect her to pop her head (bigger than a basketball)out at the same height as the door knob. Usually takes them all of 3 seconds to get all the way back to the sidewalk. i laugh everytime. OP, look at a Neo. Be adisved, know what you are getting yourself into BEFORE getting one.
