So what if she is talented? No one is arguing against that. She is indeed inspired but then again so are many people in the world. Some can sing, some paint etc. Even a nurse who works so hard to look after the sick is inspired to do what she does. You are holding on to her talent in a stupid way and keep asking people to paint like her or shut up.

Yes we agree that everyone sees god in their own vision but looking at her paintings and comparing them to what a typical white christian in the West visions God and Jusus as, then it is not difficult to see that her paintings are somewhat an impossision rather than a vision.

And she was four....so she didn't learn Jesus at school (not that she would since the schools are forbidden to utter HIS name.) Therefore, she found out about heaven and Jesus through divine revelation.

They are all extremely derivative from other works of art.

Talent? Yes, but of the photographic memory sort.

Compare them to -- for example -- the works of Hieronymous Bosch or William Blake. Highly original and imaginative works there.

The fascinating part is, in the book, his dad says he showed Colton hundreds of different depictions of Jesus, and yet Colton said Jesus didn't look like any of the depictions. It wasn't until his dad showed him the painting by Akiane that Colton agreed that was what Jesus looks like.

One of my favorite peices ever. Bach's "St. Mathew's Passion" is another that moves me greatly.

If anyone has read the book "Heaven is for Real" by Todd Burpo, the little boy that visits heaven says Jesus looks like what this girl paints.

The boys father would always show his son pictures of Jesus and ask him is this what he looked like and he would always say no. Then one night he came across her story on CNN, and showed his son, his son got excited and said yes that what he looks like.

So.... Jesus really IS just a regular looking white dude with a beard....

She is a very good craftsman. Especially for her age. No denying that. She is not an exception though. Pretty much every self taught "blue collar artist" goes through the same stages in their life and plausibly find some way to make a living through their natural talent. She is either very lucky and/or has very savvy parents to have this level of media exposure. But, the blue collar artists are everywhere. You see their work as a store murals, folk art and craft, pin stripes/flames/sculls on hot-rods, airbrushed t-shirts etc, romance novel covers etc. The reality is that there is not much market out there for them to make respectable income just selling their own paintings/sculptures unless the work is a part of something functional and/or itself is ornamental... So, based on above premise and assuming that her paintings are meticulous copies of photographed subjects, therefore the lack of depth, raw color palette and excessive use of translucency, she definitely is the product of her environment and upbringing more so than, her paintings as an evidence of her ability to transcend the common reality we all share. One thing for sure, she/her parents obviously found that niche demand to be able to price her paintings the way they do while an artists with masters in painting would have hard time to sell a single painting at the same price bracket.

While many squander their talents and become detriments to the world, she chose to use it and bring beauty and inspiration along with a desire to help others less fortunate than her.

You adults should be ashamed of yourself for attacking the beautiful innocence of this divinely inspired young artist.
