The only peanut butter that goes bad quickly is the organic kind that the oil separates from the peanut butter. Keep it unopened in a cool place and you should be ok.

unrefrigurated it will last about a year, and I expect longer since I store my "rainy day food" in a cool spot of my basement.

All else fails, I will give whatever I dont use in 9 to 10 months from now to family and friends.

They said in a couple of weeks it could go up 30 percent so maybe another $1.20 you'd have to pay for a jar of it. I don't eat peanut butter enough to stock up on it.

I'd donate any swollen canned goods to a soup kitchen or homeless shelter too...

if it goes up 40%, just do without peanut buttter. pretty simple. and fuck them and any other company that's going to do such a thing. just like i did sobe life water. went up 33%, i sent them a nastygram that said fuck you, not buying your shit anymore.

Seem kind of silly to stock up on peanut butter only to talk about donating it because you can't eat it all before it goes bad. How much money did you actually save by stocking up?? None.

why is donating a bad thing? Besides my little brother goes through a jar about every 2 weeks. He sure will enjoy it, when money is tight.

Donating is a great idea, I just bought a bunch of canned foods to donate to a shelter yesterday. It's just if you're stocking up for yourself because the price is going to go up and you want to save money but you can't use it..then you haven't saved any money. You'd be better off buying it when you need it instead. But...if you're stocking up to give to people who might not be able to afford the price increase, then great.

They put expiration dates on things to fool idiots who throw their stuff out without checking it first.

I regularly buy expired peanut butter and then take years to eat it all, and I'm not dead yet.
