If you cross country ski, start with a small country.

Re: HARMONIC TREMOR - Mt Rainier
This has the potential for a disaster of monstrous proportions.

Overnight, the earthquakes had a depth of less the 1 km. Then the harmonic tremor started this afternoon.

Tacoma and Seattle are in Mt Rainier's range. This should be a top headline so the people there are aware and ready to move if necessary.

I'm sure people in the area are aware of the tremors. They have drills and emergency plans.

Here is the webcam. Unfortunately it is topped with lots of snow and ice.

Just checked the Tacoma News Tribune and Seattle King5. There is not even a mention.

Is the doom on or off. I'm sitting here by the Duwamish River waiting. Marine layer is burning off. Will be able to see the mt from here.
Meanwhile I'm studying up on the subject..

been messing with the parameters of that pele link, and have set the maximum time to 144 hours, and the width and height to their maximum values too..

[link to pele.ess.washington.edu:16017]

you can see the frequency of the 'harmonics' over the past 6 days.

click on the image, you'll see that this episode is probably going to continue for another couple of hours, going by previous occasions this past 6 days.

we'll see.

Mt. Hood usually kills about half a dozen
yuppie idiots a year who try to climb it in the winter.

I think Rainer could easily beat that number

Re: HARMONIC TREMOR - Mt Rainier
I have been trying to find all possible explanations for the on again / off again harmonic tremors. Anyone think it is possible that the recent road work may be playing a role on the tremors? i.e. bulldozers, etc?

Either way, it would still not explain the earthquakes over the past week.
