GOLD RUSH - (Alaska) Season Two Starts Oct 28th
goldcrew NEW SEASON PREMIERE October 28 at 9p e/p

And here's the link... [link to dsc.discovery.com] (Edited to under 50%)

GOLD RUSH Please note the new series has had a name change. It is not GOLD RUSH ALASKA any more.

GOLD RUSH returns with our determined group of down-on-their-luck men risking everything to strike it rich mining for gold. Inspired by his father Jack, Todd Hoffman leads the miners — now with one season under their belts — to finish what they started and get to the bottom of the glory hole at Porcupine Creek and find gold.

This spring, they headed north once again to Porcupine Creek, Alaska to settle unfinished business and find the gold at the bottom of the glory hole.

NEW Program Special

The second season of GOLD RUSH kicks off with a special "The Off-Season" on Friday, October 28 at 8p e/p, where fans will find out about all of the hard work the Hoffmans put in between mining seasons to make sure they hit the mother lode this time around. Then at 9p e/p, "Twist of Fate" officially kicks off the new season

blackcat If your a fan and really enjoyed last seasons show, could you please give the thread a bump back to page 1 every now and then so that other people can know about it. Thanks.

It's fun learnig about the process of gold diggin' in an entertaining, well-edited fashion. That's about the best you can ask for from television.

WASH PLANT WOES.

goldshaker [link to dsc.discovery.com]

kitty I really think that they should have made the effort to understand the clean up process a lot better. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Sorry about the annoying 30 sec commercial, but this video clip explains the problem. They should have hired an expert as soon as they knew there was trouble, instead of keeping it running with a lousy payout.

I thought they lost the rights to the claim they were digging... That guy that was sent in "to help them" (Terry I think his name was) is taking the claim for himself. They're gonna have to start fresh on a new claim, hopefully with some better luck and a bit more experience.

THE GLORY HOLE

grdigger [link to vimeo.com] (The final 44 mins. This is worth watching.)

Hebrewcoin You make a very good point there CalmShock. I was thinking that to myself after watching the last episode. I sure know what I'd be thinking if I owned the claim. The owner also has the advantage of having had his man there for the last couple of weeks.

In fact I seriously think that a separate "special" about that would be really good if the producers could arrange it.

I foresee a serious flooding problem. The barrier between the river and the hole looks awfully thin to me. And it's going to need a lot more than a 6 inch pump next time.

"They're gonna have to start fresh on a new claim, hopefully with some better luck and a bit more experience." In fact I think that's the plan for season two. There was a wrap up show where I seem to remember that this was mentioned as a possibility. (I'll post it later)

They lost the gamble. It's easy to sit there as an armchair critic I know, but some mistakes are really obvious as soon as you see them. In particular children on the site, building a home and way too much hunting n' fishing.

The owner won because they didn't clean him out.

Well, I agreed with the first part of your statement. But, whatever turns you on. Enjoy.

Actually, they don't dig mud all day long...when the machine doesn't work, they don't dig at all. Reminds me of the greedy monkey who starved because he couldn't get ALL of the cookies out of the cookie jar at one time...and refused to let go of some of them so his hand would fit through the opening.

grdigger kitty Oh well, you can't please everyone. I'll grant you that they made a few really dumb moves. But whats the best part about this show for me is the insight into the actual problems.

99% of films about gold mining involve John Wayne, Marline Dietrich, and a gun fight. OK there is some of that here. But the thing is that as far as I know this is by far the best reality show about the actual problems.* Someone with the money and desire and some knowledge to go gold mining up north with $250,000 or so, would actually learn a lot from this show.

I really like the Glory Hole, that was good TV.

If you're talking about Swamp People, I love that show. There's some real men. Maybe not the sharpest knives in the drawer, but goddamn they got some big cohones. Especially that guy that only hunts at night with his bare hands. What a career choice!

You mean to BUY,,,, don't you?

nowwhat
Each time a person stands for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he or she sends forth a tiny ripple of hope. And crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance. Few are willing to embrace the disapproval of their fellows, the censure of their colleagues, the wrath of their society. Moral courage is a rarer commodity than bravery in battle or great intelligence. Yet it is the one essential vital quality for those who seek to change a world that yields most painfully to change. It never fails to surprise me how many people go into the Gold mining field, WITHOUT the experience that they need to accomplish the task!

We have the same thing in our local area: Every year a different group comes in, sets up shop, looses a bunch of money, and then quietly disappears in the night! lol

The Truth is: Most successful Gold operations are either mining the Stock Market, or Laundering Gold from other sources! :(

But its fun to live the dream, I suppose! lol

Hebrewcoin Hm, I'm almost tempted. Alas I went deaf in my left ear about a year ago. I was in advertising sales for about 25 years. And the thing about sales is that you have to be a good listener to gage the mood. I was getting ear ache and warning signs so I packed it in. Got an early pension and while I'm not rich the rents paid and I've some dosh in my pocket.

Hungry desperate people make the best miners, I don't have that edge. I was raised up in the Mt Shasta/Weed area so if I was tempted I'd either go there, or the Mojave Desert, or Kern River Valley area. Both of which I know quite well.
