This was never meant to be a 'I hate America' thread. Its was about, how we as Westerners stand by and let others mistreat and abuse kids. Most WESTERN society's are following the American model for their future and Australia is a prime example. IF there is a trend toward the breakdown of the family and an increase in child abuse then I want to know why and will start asking questions.

Is this an economic trend, an education failure, a funding issue, Single parent (family breakdown issue) or an overpopulation issue. I would like to know or at least ask questions.

Statistics are something that are very easily manipulated in order for someone or some lobby to proove a point or to get a bill or legislation pushed through.
Suppose OP you never heard about prostitution tourism to lets say Thailand where people actually go to to have sex with underaged people.
You justhear about it more in the news in western countries , that doesn't mean it doesn't happen anywhere else.

I don't really agree, there has been huge scandals in my country over child abuse (Dutroux, fourniret, the catholic church.. all googleable) . To me it seems people are getting more sensitve about child abuse. The time where my grandparents where young, that was a time where childabuse did get rubbed under the rug, no one knew a bout it and no one wanted to know about it.
Since a few publically broadcasted scandals in Belgium, people have zero tolerance for it anymore. I don't know how that is in the US tho.
In fact we had huge protests about it too, called the White March , wich admittedly has been a while ago.
How disturbing and sick it may be , I don't think its possible to completely erradicate childabuse. Because there will always be sick fuckers with the next best excuse.
Only thing anyone can really do and really can take responsability for are t heir own children, take good care of them and make sure that doesn't happen to them.

True, people from western countries indeed go to third world countries JUST to have sex with underaged people.
THat isn't really a secret but because those countries aren't actively filing against child abuse there is little that can be done against that sort of prostitution tourism.
On the other hand, its also well known that that sort of prostitution is organised , not by the poor children themselves but by their parents who often just sell them off to brothels because they don't have enough money to take care of them or are simply greedy fuckers that want the money instead of the child.
Its in that regard easier to count the tourists on prostitution sprees than to count all the locals that might have taken use of an underaged prostitute also.

Australia has been working with close third world countries to help control the underage sex trade involving Australian tourists and some arrests have been made. Its a small step but at least heading in the right direction.

40% of abuse deaths in the US were known abused children but an underfunded , overstretched system failed to help. Combine this with declining social habits, poor education, health and a declining value of the minimum wage and you are creating a cess pool of abuse just waiting to happen.

This is the direction I feel we are headed, and standards are falling not increasing. I'm open to ideas on how to address the problem but first some need to admit there is one.
