LATEST UPDATE- Columbus Zoo on scene... Quoting: WhiteLight Patty Peters, Columbus Zoo community relations There are between 8 to 10 of us from the zoo or The Wilds, so we have plenty of vets and animal staff, including three vets on site right now. Peters said any animals rescued from the Thompson property would be taken back to the zoo and put into a quarantine facility until they can find new homes for them. “We mainly have wet stock and small carnivores at the zoo, so we’re not really equipped for the larger carnivores,” she said. “We don’t want to endanger any of the animals we have, since we don’t know what they may have picked up.” To interpret..they don't trust that these animals are free from disease. That is troubling as of course they have been out for almost 12 hours now in the countryside before being shot by deputies. That risk is yet to be calculated. Garbage, They are killing them all left and right. 2 Animals Left. We forget sometimes that there are saints living among us. When we meet them, we are reminded, not just of the presence of pure divinity right here on earth, but also of our own potential, and of the responsibility we have to try to live up to it ~ for our own sakes and for the very future of this planet. |

THIS IS REPORTER TONYA SHIPLEY WHO IS REPORTING ON TWITTER FEED... Tonya Shipley: From an Oct 2010 Times Recorder story on Terry Thompson being sentenced on gun charges: U.S. District Judge Algenon L. Marbley looked as if he was struggling Friday morning with exactly what sentence to give a Zanesville man who pleaded guilty to two federal counts of possessing illegal firearms. Marbley finally decided on sentencing Terry Thompson, 62, to one year and one day in federal prison, ordered him to be on house arrest for a year after his release. In addition, he was ordered to complete 208 hours of community service, either working with children or animals, within a year of his release. Thompson entered guilty pleas to the federal charges in April and faced up to 10 years in prison. But Marbley told Thompson before sentencing that he had to weigh the seriousness of the crime and Thompson's background and personal history. Thompson was charged after agents with Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms served a search warrant at Thompson's home on Kopchak Road in 2008. At that time, the ATF seized 133 weapons and a small amount of ammunition. Thompson's conviction centered on eight of those guns -- five fully automatic firearms and three short-barreled firearms without serial numbers. Thompson was formerly a gun dealer who did not renew his license several years ago. Marbley did eject one other gun from the case Friday, a Japanese gun that was manufactured to shoot flares. Marbley disagreed with Assistant U.S. Attorney David Bosley, who along with an agent from the ATF, told Marbley the gun could be fitted to shoot 12-gauge shotgun shells. Thompson, who despite having a broken right arm in a sling, stood at attention, said the gun, a souvenir from his father from World War II, along with another gun, were antiques and were meant as heirlooms that eventually would be passed to a nephew. The guns were discovered in a storage chest in the basement of Thompson's home the day ATF served the warrant. They had been taken from Thompson's father's home before the home was demolished two years ago. Marbley said it came as a surprise to him that Thompson has a history of being a businessman, a pilot and a Vietnam veteran. "You've essentially been a law-abiding citizen," Marbley said. "You seem to be a very intelligent, which may have got you into this trouble." I am a Child of God |

THIS TRAVESTY IS ALL THE OWNER'S FAULT! HE CAUSED THE ANIMALS TO BE KILLED... IMHO THEY ALL WENT BACK TO WHOM CREATED THEM..OUR GOD IN HEAVEN.. THERE SPIRIT IS NOW AT RAINBOW BRIDGE PLAYING WITH ALL OF GOD'S CREATURES NEVER EVER TO BE HARMED BY HUMANS AGAIN. Jack Hanna was just speaking he said the only 2 animals left our a Wolf and Monkey the rest of the animals that have escaped have been shot and killed and were now being buried... Hanna was misty eyed but he knew there was no alternative. The other animals that were not killed and were confined have been removed from the property including Leopards, Hanna said they are going to the Ohio Zoo and will be well taken care of. Hanna said he met with the Governor and now will create a Emergency Law to stop these animals from being auctioned in Ohio and to raid other property's that are housing wild animals.. This is the worst cruelty Mankind has done to Earth's Wild Creatures.... |

OP, I would say forget about the "wolf that comes to dinner ',..... and START worrying about the packs of wild dogs that will be waiting for you, once TSHTF ! Quoting: Eagle # 1 1156256 More than half of the people with pets will just turn them LOSE, when food is scarce, and NOT have the heart to kill them. IF you have NEVER been 'cut off' by such a pack, DON'T tell me the pack instinct/hunt for food is bred OUT of Fido ! IT'S NOT ! I only 'escaped' because the smell from the row of garbage cans was MORE inviting, AND I yelled at the top of my lungs TOO ! The ONLY REAL defense against such a pack IS a 12 gauge shotgun with Ought Buck loads ! This was worked out by others, NOT ME ! Eagle Right on that account! I used to sew up sheep attacked by feral Dogs that packed together and maimed for the fun of it! That was horrible as the sheep trusted dogs.. but on the note about Wolves.. here in Idaho we can buy Wolf tags this year.. and yes they too can cause problems when they get too close to ranch livestock and domestic pets. We have many horses that have been abandoned due to the bad economy and the shelters are overflowing.. very sad all around. also coming soon to packs of humans near you |
