Slowly find yourself and discover what YOU like to do.....it can take a while but then you will feel complete and ready to meet someone new......tried and tested method by myself , single for 8 years just met someone new......x

I've done that. I know who I am, and what I can bring to the table. I know what I want.

Right now, I'd like to feel something besides sick and sad.

Chin up LaniJane!

Go for an extensive girl's night out.

Do everything that person that broke your heart hates.

Go to the local gym and beat the bag.

Seriously only time will mend your heart.
In the last several months mine has been shattered and time is the only remedy for it.

Wish you the besthugging

I so so so empathize with your pain right at this very moment. Sick and sad and for me numb until I become overrun with emotion everytime something triggers a memory. I ordered some oxytocin (the natural stuff your brain makes when you are in love or eating chocolate or bonding with people). Wishing you smiles again OP.

If it was love that broke it - real love - no amount of time, money, friends, distraction or distance will touch it. You'll learn to cope like an amputee learns to function without a limb - but 'better' is a word that will never apply to your situation. The above response about 'i know ur pain' is a bullshit platitude from someone who has read too many greeting cards. The loss of real love is probably the worst thing that can happen to a human being. Fortunately it's exceedingly rare.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2606923

Interesting. It happened to me and never went away, even years later. The pain satys buy you just learn to manage it after you come to the realisation that it will never go away any time soon. I question my life and find it to be very hollow and empty, like I had missed some vital part for everything to be how is used to be and how it should be, but which is now gone.
I go on. The show must go on, Sometimes I try to ignore it and pretend it's not there, and occasionally I even succede become so distracted that I forget about it for a little while, but i's always there, patiently waiting for me to drop my guard.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3741452

Sorry that some go through that.I must be unusual but I never get myself that attached to anyone.I am a loner for that very reason.I would love to have a close friend but every time the person wants to make it more and then I feel smothered so I exit.
If I do care for someone and they want to end it I never feel anything.I am okay with it.I just dont understand why a person bases their happiness on someone else.

My happiness has never been based on someone else. I've spent most of my adult life, like you, alone. By choice. I extended myself and was rebuked. I'm not angry about it. Hurtful words are hurtful, however, and it doesn't matter who delivers them. Sometimes those wounds leave the deepest scars.

I am curious OP as to why you placed this thread here.Just seems to me this would be a private matter.Somewhat like "Oh see what he did,he hurt my feelings so now I air it openly so I can hope it humiliates him for all to see."
I suspect the person made the right choice by pulling back.If anyone would post personal things that happen between me and another I wouldn't want involved with them either.
Sometimes people just expect to much and especially from online stuff.Never wise to get all hyped up expecting chemistry from a keyboard.Never pans out in real time.

...if what's broken is your heart? verysad

Yeah, yeah, I'm not an idiot, I know. Change mindset. The Universe is mental and all that. Way easier said than done.

Somebody, please, make me laugh.

Sadly to fix a broken heart I think the only thing to do is lose the heart. That way it will never be broken again.

I didn't go into any detail. I didn't divulge anything secret. My intent was never to humiliate. I was just very, very sad. Still am, but with some support, the dark clouds are beginning to pass. Thanks for your input.

You know, I've had all day to process this, and you may be right. Maybe I got exactly what I deserved. I could argue the public/private issue, as I was not the one who made intent public first, however it is now a moot point.

Anyway, time is the only thing that can fix a broken heart, unfortunately. Try to find some things to occupy yourself with. It'll get better, promise. In the meantime, here is another funny scare vid, starts slow but it's good!
