Please Pray For My Sisters Grandchildren 5 & 6 Year Olds Hit By Car With Their 6 Year Old Friend (Mia Has Died)

UPDATED Monday approx 4:00pm EDT 10/31/11:

UPDATE!!! Alyssa is doing great! She is moving her hands and feet and turning her head! She has even opened her eyes a little bit! The doctors lowered her respirator settings and Alyssa is taking 6 to 10 breaths on her own. The Doctors say that these are all good signs and that she will probably have her surgery to fix her leg soon. Thank you all for your continued prayers and support!

With all due respect, This thread needs to be taken down. I understand your need for prayer but one family have lost their little girl. Your posts of "proof prayer works!" and other cheering, which i do understand because of course you want that for the other little ones, is probably not what the other family want to see over the internet right now however, or probably ever. It would be respectful of you now to let them grieve in peace.

Keep the thread up. We are all praying.

END-OF-THE-DAY UPDATE ON ALYSSA (from her mom Christin):

Alyssa had another good day. Earlier, she opened her eyes and looked at me for a few minutes. She was crying and I felt so bad. I knew she was in pain, but I couldn’t do anything to help her. That’s the hardest part next to waiting.
While she looked at me, her brain pressure started to go up. I definitely think she recognized me. I smiled at her and told her I was proud of her and I loved her. I held it together; I didn’t want her to see me upset. But, when she fell back asleep, I had a good cry.

I’m so proud of her. Not many people can say they’re tough enough to fight their way out of a medically-induced coma. They stopped monitoring her brain activity because she was at a constant 100% and the coma medicine levels were very low in her system.

She moved and coughed a lot today. She even threw her leg over the edge of the bed. She hates it when they suction her lungs; she tries to turn her head away. She’s still breathing some breaths on her own when she’s not so sedated.
They said that if she continues the way she has been, she should be able to have the bolt in her brain removed and the surgery on her leg done by the end of the week. Isn’t that amazing?!

Thank you for all of your continued prayers and support. Soon, we’ll all be having Alyssa’s homecoming party at the park. She’s going to have so much fun! Don’t forget to pick up all of the clearance Halloween decorations and candy that you can.

Alyssa is doing well today. They have kept her more sedated so she isn't in pain. No scares through the night. I'm waiting to talk to the doctor.

I talked with the doctor. He said that the minor fluctuations that Alyssa has in her blood and brain pressures are normal when patients are weaned off of the medicines she was on. They very happy with her progress. They're keeping her more sedated to make the transition easier. They've started going down on the oxygen settings, so that she can eventually be taken off of the ventilator.

I just got a call from the hospital to verify her surgery tomorrow at 11am. I didn't even know she was scheduled for it yet. I asked the nurse to talk to the doctor and confirm. I don't know if one of the other doctors scheduled it and didn't let anyone know. If they think she is stable enough, great. But, she doesen't even have the bolt removed yet. I'm anxious for her to get better and come home, but I don't want them to rush anything.

I asked the nurse to talk with the doctor about the surgery that was scheduled for tomorrow at 11am. I told her to tell him that I didn't want them to rush things with her. I want to make sure she is stable before we do surgery. The doctor said he didn't know anything about the surgery. He has a call in to Ortho to see if they scheduled it ahead of time, thinking she would be okay by then. He agrees that we shouldn't rush things, either.

Heavenly Father, in Jesus' name, we pray for the doctors involved to have wisdom and skill in dealing with Alyssa...Amen

CHRISTIN'S LATEST UPDATE ON ALYSSA:

Alyssa woke up several times today. I was there everytime...right in her line of vision, smiling, talking to her, touching her. She tries to fight sedation. I have to tell her to go back to sleep so she can heal. My beautiful little princess listens to her momma and falls back asleep.

Her brain pressure has gone up several times today, but they say that's bec...ause she's more awake. They've had to give her medicine for it. This tough little girl likes to fight off the coma medicine!

The swelling in her face has gone down a lot. Her lips are less swollen, too. Her body seems to have gone down a little bit, but she still looks a good ten pounds heavier than she usually is. They say that she will eventually lose all of the fluids she is retaining and it will go away.

I love my little girl so much.

I really appreciate you keeping us abreast of all that's happening with Alyssa. I read each update and my heart is still with all of them.

I wonder if she has spoken again with Mia's family. I would really like to know how they are managing. My heart is heavy for them while it is joyful for your Alyssa.
