Just tried to sign up for facebook and they are forcing me to give a mobile phone number

Why would anyone ever sign up for this shit?

I deleted my facebook several months ago. It's a fucked up site.

Nope, it's OFFICIAL facebook bizzness, the email I posted above is exactly what they said. They REFUSE to let me sign up without my ID or confirmation via mobile phone. UNNFUCKINREAL.

I don't see myspace asking me to prove who I am! What if someone wants to make an account for Tesla or some other dead famous person? THey CANNOT under this system.

Nope. I tried. The email I posted from them above is clear. I either provide them with ID proving my name is the same as the sign up, or they don't let me sign up. If I had a mobile phone they wanted the number so they could text me.

So either way they have the user's mobile to track them OR they have not only your full name but your ID number.

They are simply trying to end the days of internet anonymity. It's their agenda to track you and they aren't hiding it.

How does a mobile phone number prove who you are? Gotta be kidding.

I made an account under a fake name a year or two ago, which I barely use, they never asked me for identification, and I bypass the "give us your phone number" page every time I log in (I never stay logged in on there).

Wait, now I remember, I made an account under a different fake name just a week or two ago, for a different purpose, and they never asked me for this. I just went ahead and made the account.

A lot of times you can bypass these things. I got a cell phone for the first time and they said "create an account to enjoy our features" etc. and gave me a big page of every piece of information to fill out, I scrolled all the way to the bottom and it gave the option "skip this step" and I was able to register the phone without giving my name or address or anything. Not that they don't know who I am a hundred other ways, but I was not required to fork it over to activate the phone.

is that so fucking difficult? just put up an email account and username.... you can adjust your security preferences, it's just safe as everything else, you only show what you want and for who you want

I was on fb a couple years ago as I thought it was a good way to connect with old friends and promote my music and band. One day about a year ago I was locked out of my account. When trying to log in, I got a message that said-
Your account has been accessed by someone in Santa Cruz, Ca.- Is this you?
I replied NO and followed the links to reset the PW.
Didn`t work.
Tried several times to delete my acct and nope. ITS STILL THERE.
WHAT A WASTE OF TIME.
SO, I TRIED TO START A NEW ONE with a band name, and got this:

They know if you are not using a real name?

Buy a throw-away cell phone. Do not put the battery in the phone until you are away from your normal residence. After getting the page respond using the phone, and get confirmation. Take out the battery and then throw away the phone.

It will cost you the cost of cheap cell phone but they won't be able to track you or link you to a specific residence.

Yes, the bad guys can track you and listen to your conversations even with the phone turned off, as long as the battery is in.

Zuckerberg is a c*nt, he became a billionaire and then started introducing ridiculous rules. He knows full well had he been using this mentality back in early 2005 no one would have signed up to his stupid site and he'd still be a peasant!
