Kids are Expensive!
If you have any little kids, “got news for you”.

They don't stay little long...... and as they grow, so does their needs.
You better start saving some bucks for them. Don't spend all those bucks on stupid stuff. Save it for them, they depend on you.

Well as soon as they get old enough to figure out that cars are cool, then they want college.

Had plans to send kid to normal university. A public university.

Well the other day, I was in the kitchen cooking something....... ….and my Son says,

out of the blue, he wants to go to a private Ive leigh college.

I said pardon me?

What college?

How much........he says Baylor.

He says 18K per semester.

Said pardon me........?

And I said, just how many people can write a check for 18K

cash every 4 months?

Problem is, he's deserving. After 2 years of college he has never made a “B”, only A's.

Breaks your heart to let your kid down, but I eat food too.

And don't want him stuck with a student loans. How can I negotiate with him to accept normal college?

How do you people deal with this type of situation?

Knowledge is the most expensive commodity, a good investment but comes with a price. But Leaping Lizards!

Re: Kids are Expensive!
I started a saving scheme for my children's education when they were very young. I deposit into each of their accounts $250 a month. Though $18k per term is exorbitant. Our Universities are a bit different. They get in based on merit and the amount they pay depends on what course they do. Yours are like private colleges?

Your actions are very smart and admirable. One day deep in the future it may make the difference if they attend college or not.

Suffering this right now. Working two jobs because I could not save for my son's future when he was young. He works part time, and attends school, he will have to get some small loans to make it through.

Re: Kids are Expensive!
Tell that boy to get himself a job right now so he can help pay for it. Other wise, he's gonna have to settle for something else other than being a lawyer or a doctor. Philosophers don't count, and being a bounty hunter ain't no good either, tell him cuz dyin' ain't much of a living, ya know?

You sit hiom down and show him what it is gonna cost him and you both to shell out 18 k for tuition. Hell, he can mkae 65k/yr cutting grass and doing yard work for folks if he sets his prices right. The size of the yard and how long it would take to cut the grass and weed eating, and whatever else they want him to do.
He'll have to work. and all this BS that he's got to go to college to get a good education, while he's doin' that, he can learn a real trade. If he's good with his hands, mechanically inclined, then he can help you by changing the oil in your car and his etc..., see?
Teach him a trade but make him understand that if he wants something ,he's gonna have to work to eat.
Besides sometimes experience is a better teacher than indoctrination colleges.
Teach him to think for himself, talk about it.
And tell him money don't grow on trees. If it did, we wouldn't be in this mess to start with cuz you would have a whole yard full of them out there just to go get some whenever you needed it.
