China arrests two accused in hit-and-run toddler's death as shown on security cams

China has arrested two people over the death of a toddler killed in a hit-and-run as thousands of people across the country gathered for impromptu vigils in memory of the little girl who was ignored by 18 passers-by as she lay dying.

Wang Yue, aged two, died last Friday, one week after she was hit by two vans in a hardware market in Foshan, Guangdong province. Chinese media reported that two men have been arrested.

Security camera footage showing 18 people walking or cycling past her bleeding body, indifferent to her fate, caused shame and outrage in China and prompted questions about whether the country's economic miracle has left a moral vacuum in its wake.
