Re: MYSTERIES of ANCIENT NEW ZEALAND and THE PACIFIC
Hi Tauranga, and all

An interesting read.....connections between Australian, New Zealand(maori), and Egyptian mythology!

[link to www.masseiana.org]

A BOOK OF THE BEGINNINGS

SECTION 22

AFRICAN ORIGINS OF THE MAORI

An instrument has been found on the monuments, called the ka, used for throwing at birds and supposed to be the boomerang. According to Chabas, it is the Egyptian boomerang[46]. In the Western Australian languages the boomerang is named ky-li. It is thrown by striking the ground to obtain a rebound into the air, and in Egyptian kha expresses this throwing to the earth, also to rise up. But the full value of kâ is kak, or khekh.

The Mangaian curved club is shaped like the Australian boomerang, and this is named the kaikaa. Khekh (Eg.) means to be repelled, repulsed, and to return; kik, Chinese, to kick. Keke, Maori, signifies contrariwise; in a different line or direction from the one expected. The keke or kaikaa then is the boomerang.

Now the word 'boomerang' appears to be a reduced form of booroomooroong, the name given to a scene in the most secret of the Maori mysteries at which a tooth was extracted from the boys who were then made into men. A throwing-stick was cut with much ceremony, and this was applied to the tooth and knocked against it by means of a stone[47]. The use of the boomerang, the throwing-stick that described a complete circle, was typical of the cycle of life then completed and the entrance into that of manhood. This fact with the aid of Egyptian will enable us to decipher the sign of the boomerang. Buru means the height of attainment. So poro in Maori means to complete, attain the end, termination, as in the 'porabung' rite. Mer (Eg.) is the circle, and ankh, life. The kaika stick which fulfilled the circle was possibly a type of kak, the completer of the solar circle, which, as will be seen further on, would account for its application to the tooth knocked out. Khakht (Eg.) means to recoil, also kha is a stick and khat to recoil. Khakhat therefore denotes the recoiling stick, and this may supply the names of the katuria used by the Kulis of Gujarat and the cateia mentioned by Bishop Isidore of Seville[48]. The name, as khat or 'cat,' still survives in that of the piece of wood used in the game of tipcat, which rises in the middle so as to rebound when struck at either end.

The Australians have a demon named Koin, who carries off people in their sleep. He appears in the form of a native, painted with pipe-clay, and carries a fire-stick. The shouts of the victim's friends are supposed to make the demon drop him. At daylight Koin vanishes, and the sufferer finds his way back to the place from whence he was carried[83]. In Egyptian, khen means to carry, conduct, transport, convey, and khen denotes the carrier, as the adversary, with the determinative of Sut, the ass, or gryphon-headed opponent. Sut as [p.567] the dog was a form of canis, and therefore, of khen, which name would modify into An, and the headless khen, or dog of the hinder-part, would equate with Sut in the underworld, where Sut-Anubis was the conductor and carrier of souls, as the khenu. This makes it probable that the Australian Koin, and the Polynesian god Kane may be forms of Sut-Anubis who was the guide through the darkness of death, the psychopompus, and so in a degraded phase comes to carry off the spirit of the dreamer in the darkness of night. Sut in his two characters as a dual divinity of light and dark, was represented by the black bird (neh) and the bird of light. These two phases are likewise rendered by the black native painted with pipe-clay. Koin carried a fire-stick, and Sutkenui, the conductor, and accompanier, was the star-god of fire that lighted the way through the underworld.

It has been shown that the name of Shu is also written Mau, and the earlier Egyptologists read his name as Maui. This is the name under which he reappears in the Polynesian mythology. Also the ruti (twin lions) are there represented as Ru, the father, and Maui, his son. These are likewise the 'founders of the heavenly abode,' as in the Ritual[84]. The legend of the 'Sky Raised' tells how the heavens at one time almost touched the earth, and Maui resolved to raise the sky; for which purpose he obtained the assistance of Ru. Maui stood at the north and Ru took up his position in the south. These two lay prostrate on the ground, and succeeded in raising the solid blue with their backs; then they rose to their knees; next they stood upright and lifted it with the palms of their hands and tips of their fingers; then they drew out their own bodies to vast proportions and pushed up the retreating heavens to their present position. The solid blue, answering to the Egyptian lapis lazuli, and the ba or steel, was then pared and polished until perfectly smooth and lustrous, as we see it now[85]. This is the likeness of the lion-gods on the horizon sustaining the heaven and not letting it fall[86], or the twin-lions who support the sun on their backs at the equinox: Shu, who lifts the heaven or sun and keeps the southward gate, with Anhar at the north. Ru takes the place of Shu, and in another version his title is that of Sky-supporter; he is known as the 'Sky-supporting Ru.'[87] Ru is the lion in Egyptian, and Shu was the lion; Anhar the lion-leoparded. Shu supports the heaven which Anhar brings. The starry nature of the sky-supporter is shown by the story of Maui hurling the body of his father Ru so high aloft that it was entangled among the stars and left suspended there. His bones, however, fell, and are to be found all over the island in the shape of pumice-stone; the peculiar lightness of which would make it typical of the early god of light, which is the meaning of Shu's name. He was the light in the shades, and Gill furnishes a specimen of the primitive typology, which is [p.568] almost unfollowable for the modern mind. When the natives of Pukapuka, in 1862, gave up their gods, one aged man, formerly a priest, was seen coming in with what looked like a lump of coal. This proved to be a deity of pumice-stone, known as Ko te toka mama, i.e., the light-stone[88]. It was blackened over and thus made to typify the light-in-the-dark, or the shades, which was represented by the star-god Shu, in Egypt, and by Maui, or Ru, in Polynesia.

This is interesting, Australia and New Zealand connected to the land of Sinim, there where gients in that land, as mentioned in numbers?. It was a land of plenty, with gient fruit, etc, was this the promised land?

[link to niv-kjv.scripturetext.com]

Numbers 1

1The Lord spoke to Moses in the Tent of Meeting in the Desert of Sinai on the first day of the second month of the second year after the Israelites came out of Egypt. He said

Numbers 13

17When Moses sent them to explore Canaan, he said, “Go up through the Negev and on into the hill country. 18See what the land is like and whether the people who live there are strong or weak, few or many. 19What kind of land do they live in? Is it good or bad? What kind of towns do they live in? Are they unwalled or fortified? 20How is the soil? Is it fertile or poor? Are there trees on it or not? Do your best to bring back some of the fruit of the land.” (It was the season for the first ripe grapes.)

21So they went up and explored the land from the Desert of Zin as far as Rehob, toward Leboa Hamath. 22They went up through the Negev and came to Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai and Talmai, the descendants of Anak, lived. (Hebron had been built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.) 23When they reached the Valley of Eshcol,b they cut off a branch bearing a single cluster of grapes. Two of them carried it on a pole between them, along with some pomegranates and figs. 24That place was called the Valley of Eshcol because of the cluster of grapes the Israelites cut off there. 25At the end of forty days they returned from exploring the land.

Report on the Exploration

26They came back to Moses and Aaron and the whole Israelite community at Kadesh in the Desert of Paran. There they reported to them and to the whole assembly and showed them the fruit of the land. 27They gave Moses this account: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. 28But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there. 29The Amalekites live in the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live near the sea and along the Jordan.”

BIBLE CODES SHOW THAT AUSTRALIA BELONGS TO JOSEPH AND THAT AUSTRALIA IS SINIM!!!!!

We believe that the place referred to as "Sinim" in the Prophecy of Isaiah (49:12) is Australia and that from "Sinim" will return a portion of the Lost Ten Tribes of Israel. We decided to put the name Sinim through the Biblical Codes test and our belief was confirmed. There is no particular difficulty in applying this test and the results we achieved may be checked by anybody, anytime. The beauty of this system is that it is part of the Torah, it is eternal, and it was always there just waiting to be shown.

The whereabouts of "Sinim" in the Pentateuch was checked for its occurrence at intervals of between one and a hundred and the name came up eight times: Once in connection of the murderer Cain who was sent into exile "to the east of Aden" where his descendant built a city that had importance in ancient times. A second time it occurs in regards to Yaacob fleeing from Laban and being accused of theft and in turn implying that his pursuer had avaricious intentions. The third time the occurrence speaks of Joseph being imprisoned and being blessed with favor while still in prison. Twice the name occurs in connection to the Egyptians pursuing the Israelites when they left Egypt and following after them into the Red Sea. Once the name appears in connection with the quails and once in an itinerary of the places of encampment and once in association with the feast of Succoth (Tabernacles) and the obligation for every person to go up to Jerusalem and bring an offering. Out of the eight occurrences the first three are descriptive to an amazing degree of the early history of Australia which was a place of exile "east of Aden" for violent men, thieves, and alleged trouble-makers some of whom had been treated with injustice and all of whom came of British stock belonging to Joseph.
The remaining five occurrences of the name Sinim also have clear connection to Australia and/or New Zealand as we will see. We can make suggestions and some of the implications may become more apparent at a future date.

7. New Zealand: The QUAIL AND THE KIWI

The case of the quail in Numbers 11:30-32 also contains the word SINIM. The quail were an enormous flock of birds that miraculously descended onto the ground around the Encampment of the Children of Israel when they came out of Egypt and the Israelites were able to just gather them up without effort.
The Hebrew word translated as "quail" is "slav". We do not know if this was the quail we are familiar with or another bird.
It has happened in the Sinai Desert that vast flocks birds on their migratory path land to rest in large numbers and are temporarily too exhaused to move and so fall easy prey to whoever is interested in catching them.

[link to www.searchgodsword.org]
The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia

QUAIL
"kwal (selaw; ortugometra; Latin Coturnix vulgaris):

'A game bird of the family Coturnix, closely related to "partridges" ....In Palestine they were migratory. They are first mentioned in Exodus 16:13: "And it came to pass at even, that the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the camp." This describes a large flock in migration, so that they passed as a cloud. Numbers 11:31-33....

'Commentators have had trouble with the above references. They cause the natural historian none--they are so in keeping with the location and the laws of Nature. First the Hebrew selaw means "to be fat." That would be precisely the condition of the quail after a winter of feeding in the South. The time was early spring, our April, and the quail were flocking from Africa and spreading in clouds--even to Europe. They were birds of earth, heavy feeders and of plump, full body. Migration was such an effort that when forced to cross a large body of water they always waited until the wind blew in the direction of their course, lest they tire and fall. Their average was about 16 birds to each nest. If half a brood escaped, they yet multiplied in such numbers as easily to form clouds in migration. Pliny writes of their coming into Italy in such numbers, and so exhausted with their long flight, that if they sighted a sailing vessel they settled upon it by hundreds and in such numbers as to sink it. '

According to the simple meaning of the text (that we generally prefer) the birds were quail or something similar.
We are however SEARCHING for some common denominator with the word "SINIM" that we have found encrypted in the passage for quail.

What was unique about these birds?

They could not fly due to exhaustion or for some other reason.

We have already been led by other evidence to identify SINIM with Australia and New Zealand.

This means that "SINIM" can refer Australia and New Zealand or either one or the other depending on the context.
We do find that New Zealand is uniquely characterized by the fact that one-third of its birds could not fly.
This is what would connect New Zealand to the description of the "quail" and it is where we find the word SINIM and so is further justification for us to identify SINIM with Australia and New Zealand.

In the concept of SINIM must also be included the two islands of New Zealand that lie to the Southeast of Australia. New Zealand was also settled by settlers from Britain and also belongs to Joseph. The people of New Zealand included more people from Scotland and have been considered more gentlemanly and refined. New Zealanders are nicknamed KIWIS after a bird which does not fly but runs around on the ground and once existed in vast numbers as did numerous other specii of bird in New Zealand that were thus easier prey to the early settlers in a similar manner to the quail (Numbers 11:30-32).
Another bird in New Zealand which did not fly and once was extremely numerous is the Moa which was like a turkey but is now extinct.
The existence of such birds that cannot fly or fly only little was in fact a characteristic of New Zealand where with the lack of natural predators birds filled the ecological niche that elsewhere was taken by other animals.
Birds in vast numbers that cannot fly or that fly very little and as such are easy prey to human or animal predators are in fact a UNIQUE CHARACTERISTIC of New Zealand!

Yes, there is alot of good info in there, just an other peace of the puzzle, an other perception that helps sees the overall picture, it is quite large in scoop, and its implications are profound.

I see it as the maori lore and legends help unlock the other legends and lore of other ancient cultures, like a missing link, still alot of linking to do, but the connections are getting stronger and stronger, common threads becoming easyier to find.

btw - Enjoyed our visit last friday, loved the company, view, quiteness and cake, and of course the iceing lol.

The Saga of Ancient Hebrew Explorers

The Mystery of New Zealand's Maoris

There is evidence among the Maori and people of eastern Polynesia that the sun was deified as Tane and that Ra, the sun god, was the tutelary god of Borabora. The Maoris, also, made use of ancient solar observatories. "At Kerikeri, in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand, there is a miniature Stonehenge, the blocks standing about 7 feet out of the ground; and near Atiamuri, north of Taupo, there are other great monumental blocks -- some fifty of these still standing erect" (Maori Symbolism, p.137).

Interestingly, ancient Maori traditions relate that since antiquity the Maoris have observed ceremonial and dietary laws very similar to those of the ancient Hebrews. They even kept the seventh day "Sabbath" as a day of rest! Also, every 7 times 7 years -- or 49 years -- they observed a Jubilee Year similar to that of the ancient Hebrews." These similarities simply cannot be explained away as "mere coincidence"! The Maoris, like the Hebrews, even had a "sacred month" given over to Harvest thanksgiving, corresponding to the Hebrew month of Tishri and the Festival of Tabernacles.

How can these fascinating facts be explained? Such similarities must be more than mere coincidence. Like the Yuchi Indians of North America, the Maoris, at some very early stage of history, must have come in contact with ancient Hebrew mariners, roaming the seven seas, who taught them Hebrew customs and left behind signs of Hebraic influence!

How was this contact achieved? Was the ancient world covered by a global cultural continuity, indicating a globe-girdling civilization?

TE AO HOU
The New World

the department of maori affairs JUNE 1960

Two historic series of cave drawings by the oldtime Maori have been found at Rapanui and Mokau, North Taranaki, similar to a notable discovery at Tongaporutu, reported to the Polynesian Society in 1939. The drawings, though fairly crude are of considerable archaeological and ethnological interest and it is hoped to excavate one cave and take impressions for preservation in the Taranaki Museum of the more interesting inscriptions in the three caves. Human footprints with three, four, five and six toes dominate the inscriptions but the old-time artists have included representations of fish, a woman, what could be a hei-tiki, a canoe prow and a bird, with a few other figures of obscure reference. The six-toed foot-print recalls that Te Rauparaha was reputed to have six toes, while there is a history of children who have been born in the district with six toes.

Its interesting, it appares, that at one stage the giants were living in harmony with other races, little people etc, alot of the maori leaders or chiefs in ancient past were said to be giants.

Kolbrin also mentions them.......

NZ not the only place 6 fingered hand and toe been found, many other places around the world as well.

An ancient global system organisation/system of different races united as one?

There is also suggestion of an extrateristrial connection?

Re: MYSTERIES of ANCIENT NEW ZEALAND and THE PACIFIC
Mysteries of the Polynesians

[link to www.bibliotecapleyades.net]

Did the Peoples of the pacific Originate on a Lost Continent?

The settlement of the Pacific remains a mystery to this day. The vastness of the Pacific as well as the lack of concern by historians has made tracing the origin of the Polynesians, at best, difficult. While anthropologists agree that there are at least three races in the Pacific region, they have not agreed on where they came from or when the Pacific was settled.

Evidence now suggests that man may have ventured out into the Pacific over 30,000 years ago. New discoveries in partially submerged caves in New Ireland, a long narrow island east of New Guinea, are proving that man reached these islands tens of thousands of years ago.

In his book The Fragile South Pacific, Andrew Mitchell says,

"Until recently archaeologists who worked in the Bismarcks and the Solomons were unable to find any evidence of occupation by man older than 4,500 years. This seems odd, for man appears to have been in mainland New Guinea for at least 40,000 years; indeed, some believe that agriculture originated in the highlands of New Guinea so old are the cultures that have been discovered there. What took man so long to reach these nearest major islands? ...In 1985, Jim Allen and Chris Gosden from La Trobe University in Melbourne, excavated Matenkupkum cave in New Ireland and found human artifacts 33,000 years old deep in the earth deposits. These finds are set to revolutionize theories about the movement of man into the Pacific."

According to Maori tradition, the first Maori to come to New Zealand was the warrior Kupe, a powerful man and a legendary navigator of Pacific. Kupe was fishing near his island home Hawai’iki, when a great storm arose and blew him far down to the south, where he sighted Aotearoa, "the land of the long white cloud." The legend says that Kupe eventually made the return voyage to his homeland, and told them of his discovery. Many researchers believe that this happened as late as 950 A.D. but other theories place it much longer ago than that.

It is generally accepted that Maoris are Polynesians. But the location of Hawai’iki is open to considerable interpretation. Most anthropologists who write about the Maori do not believe that Hawai’iki is the same as modern-day Hawaii. Rather, accepted belief usually places Hawai’iki at either Tahiti or in the Marquesas Islands east of Tahiti.

Carbon dating in New Zealand places settlements there at least about the ninth century A.D. In addition, according to tradition, New Zealand was already inhabited by another race of people before the Maoris. a group of people called the Moriori. The Moriori were driven out of New Zealand and lived only on the remote Chatham Islands, which are more than 500 miles to the east of New Zealand.

Early observers to New Zealand considered the Maoris and Morioris to be different ethnic groups, though today prevailing theory is that they were part of different waves of "Polynesian" migration, the Morioris being part of the earliest migratory waves. Today, with the discovery of the Kaimanawa Wall in the Taupo district of the North Island, there are indications of even earlier settlers in New Zealand than the Morioris.

Since archaeologists admit that nearby islands to New Zealand such as Tonga, Fiji and New Caledonia were colonized at least 3000 years ago, it seems that these same navigators would have reached New Zealand as well. The history of New Zealand, and many Pacific islands, would seem to need some radical revision.

The archaelogical research of Ross Wiseman regarding a large phoenician settlement at Taupo, NZ, that was destroyed by the eruption of Tauro around 186AD

[link to springbankvineyard.wordpress.com]

You may have heard about a controversial book called “New Zealand’s Hidden Past” by Ross Wiseman, whereby he expounds the theory that way back in the 6th Century the famous sea-faring race the Phonecians (descended from the ill-fated Minoans –blown up and later to turn up in what is now modern-day Lebanon) visited New Zealand and even had settlements here. Ross, himself, admits his theory seems wild, but bases it on various ancient rock drawings, maps and inscriptions which have been found all over New Zealand. Sceptics have made mince-meat of his book, and scientists consider it deeply flawed, but there are still some baffling questions to answer
