I agree, Linux is better than windows. The only reason I run windows is because I cant run my games on linux.

Why would you ask it to die if you plan on continuing to run it???? Makes no sense...

I'm still using it at home as well.... 9 year old PC... Not giving up on my PC until it gives up on me!

Yeah I like the more lightweight Linux distros too. I had to install Ubuntu 11 at work for something and that new "Unity" desktop is the biggest piece of shit I have ever had the misfortune of using. WTF were they thinking?

XP is over though. Windows 7 is better in every imaginable way.

As a developer my "apps" are development tools and server software which are miles ahead on Linux so I'm good there. I have no need for Microsoft Office and shit like that. If one REALLY must run Windows it is possible to do so in a virtual machine (VirtualBox).

...and games get played on my XBOX 360 which is connected to my 46" LCD TV through a nice stereo and speakers.

So yeah, for me it makes total sense.

Vista as well as Windows 7 was co-developed with NSA.

All Linux distros with SElinux capabilities are NSA co-developed too :

Google "TinyXP" or use Puppy Linux, Slax, or Damn Small Linux.

Win XP will always be more secure than Windows 7 or anything made after that version.

Same here! My desktop PC's almost 7, and still works like new. But I'm going to upgrade my laptop's OS to Windows 7, this week.

Nearly all but the latest games I own simply dont run under windows 7. I have no idea why. I am running windows 7 at the moment but am definately going to "retro" install XP at a later date. XP is really the best os out there for games period. Its faster, and "fairly" stable.

BUT, I do LOVE the chess game on win 7.

And it starts faster.

So really im caught between a rock and a hard place.

Win 7 looks great, runs smooth, but for some reason I cant guess, doesnt play MOST of my games. I think they put something in there to enable games developers to use new anti piracy tech, Im guessing but I think thats the reason.

Xbox360 are really cheap at the moment, but I would not lower myself to a console, ever.

The games they put out on that are dumbed down, and people who dont know any better think xbox is the bees knees, they obviously havent seen a quality game played at the highest resolution, with a heap of DLC to add to the game, for free, for more........

Skyrim coming out soon, in about a year there will be massive amounts of mods available, Xbox version will be stuck in the dark ages where it belongs, with all the people playing them getting bored. I will be still playing skyrim in at least five years time, I wonder how many xbox players will be doing the same?

Newer and bigger is not always better.

I have boxes runnin Ubuntu and XP both.

XP runs quite well and it does what I want and need it to do.

I won't be changing till I have to.

On topic, I do run XP regularly in VIrtualBox under FBSD, and will do so for as long as it remains supported. I hate Vista, 7 is so-so, but XP still reigns supreme in the Windblows category.

Why the hell should we have to keep getting a new OS. I got XP bootleg before it was even released and still use it. Never have bought an OS.

Not saying there will never be a need to upgrade. There could be some improvement worthwhile such as Win 8. But it will have to be a major improvement.

My win XP boots in 30 seconds to the desktop ready to go.

There are other free OSs out there. Maybe Google Chrome OS would be better.

Google OS is full of trackware.
