Re: Microsoft to Windows XP: Please Die, Already!
Maybe for a non power user XP is ok, but I can't imagine giving up & for it. I am planning on buying a tiny PC and installing XP on it. It will be more than powerful enough to play older 32-Bit games. Then again I hardly play games. But yeah, as a power user I use features that the average users don't use, and XP looks dated.

Does it run SP2? You have to have at least an SP2 for many things to work such as new browsers.

SP2 is buildin (slipstreamed), together with all fixes...

lastest version of TinyXP has SP3 slipstreamed, with all XP fixes that were ever available in windows update.

You can find TinyXP at the usual places like TPB or Bitsnoop.

It works like a charm, very fast, with less than 50 Mb of memory.

Goodluck.

I agree, Linux is better than windows. The only reason I run windows is because I cant run my games on linux.

The games they put out on that are dumbed down, and people who dont know any better think xbox is the bees knees, they obviously havent seen a quality game played at the highest resolution, with a heap of DLC to add to the game, for free, for more........

Skyrim coming out soon, in about a year there will be massive amounts of mods available, Xbox version will be stuck in the dark ages where it belongs, with all the people playing them getting bored. I will be still playing skyrim in at least five years time, I wonder how many xbox players will be doing the same?

If you have 2 Gigs of memory, TinyXP will just use 50 Megs so you can use the rest for your programs, much better than losing one third for fancy Windows 7 crap.

You don't "need" an old pc for tinyxp, it will make a new pc run very very fast because of the tiny footprint.

Windows 7 uses available memory to make your computer run faster, which is much better than having it idle doing nothing. Much better.

Playing games on a Virtual PC is not a good idea. It's an emulator, it would require a lot more processing power. For example, a Nintendo 64 is 95Mhz, but it requires like 700mhz CPU so that it can run really smoothly. (From what I remember back in the day. Different CPU being emulated, but you get the idea. GPU)

TinyXP, Puppy Linux.

Try them, they are both very extendable.
