2 Grand Burning A Hole In My Pocket.
Yesterday I received 2 thousand dollars unexpectedly.

It's not money I was counting on at all.

What should I do with it? 1dunno1

Taking suggestions...

Add it to your emergency fund, or if it's fully funded with at least a years worth of expenses...then put it in the blow money fund...assuming you are debt free...if you have any debt then put it there...

Excellent suggestion (especially at it's current price) but I have enough silver.

I know you're going to say 'but you can never have enough silver'. chuckle

Optimisticly siver could double in the next 3 to 6 months so it's not a big winner at 2000. I say gamble on a higher return. take 1200 and buy one million Iraqi dinar then take the other 800 and buy silver. If the dinar pops you have one hell of a home run and if not and silver doubles then you are practically were you started.

I'm not really a fan of gold though. I would buy silver if anything.

Take it out of your pocket first.

Put it up until you have figured out the best place to allocate it to.

Silver is not going to double in the short term. Stop feeding people BS. If any of the predictions on here were true the rocket would have blasted off "to da moon" by now and it simply hasn't happened.

Advising people to enter a silver position at these levels is irresponsible, bordering on reckless. Sure, if someone has a bunch that they got at much lower prices (I got mine @ around $20/oz all in) it's OK to add here, but if I had none today I would not buy in above $25.

OP. Just save the $2000 in a high-interest account in case of job loss or whatever. That's what I'd do, and I am well-invested in metals, index funds and relatively safe, boring dividend-paying stocks.

Borrowing to invest sometimes makes sense. Back in '09 I tapped into my line of credit to add to my Canadian bank positions. Their share price was in the shitter but they did not cut their dividends. The yield was higher than the interest on the credit line.

Some of those share prices have doubled since then...

Re: 2 Grand Burning A Hole In My Pocket.
I would suggest you continue to consider all your options.

Some might be, ....

Liquid assets are crucial in case of a "get out of Dodge fast" scenario

Seed money to grow a business venture (and buying seeds might be a great idea)

Useful items for when and if your power goes out for more than a few days

The 1/3 plan. Save 1/3, Spend 1/3, give 1/3.

Water--ability to store, carry, clean and provide fresh drinking water no matter your situation.

It's nice to have options--as soon as you spend it your options are gone--something unexpected might make your decision clear in the next few days, weeks---

My gut goes with liquid--water or cash

of course the above is wrong if you have any debt
