If I use it for a business it should be a write off on my taxes. I can't see someone that bought a domain for probably around $10.00 not sell it for $1,500. Especially in this economy. If you can figure out the owner of the domain I can be even more specific on how much he will take. Type the domain in here to figure out the owner. User ID: 1301649 11/02/2011 10:45 PM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I opened a domain with GoDaddy and they required me to send in some kind of confirmation of my identification when I wanted to close it. But they wouldn't accept anything I sent as confirmation (that was on their list!) and refused to close the domain. They kept billing me until I finally closed the fucking credit card down. They still send me 'status updates' on the thing like they think I still pay them. The site is down but they still want identity confirmation from me. Jackasses. | Anonymous Coward User ID: 1379944 11/02/2011 10:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am trying to buy a domain and they are supposedly negotiating a price for the domain I want owned by a third party. Do they actually negotiate a price or does Go Daddy try to get you to come up on the price so they can take your money? Quoting: The Fifth Element I bought my personal domain from them.. it wasn't owned by anyone though. I can't complain... it's been pretty straightforward from purchase forward. Mine's only $15/yr |

I gave the owner a deadline and didn't budge on my offer. Quoting: The Fifth Element How much? He wanted $5,000 and I got it for $1,000. He wouldn't budge then I put a deadline on it and he accepted. Can you tell us the name now? |

| TheOracle User ID: 1547413 11/03/2011 12:03 AM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My husband uses godaddy for all his domain purchases for himself and others. He just bought one for me the other day and he had a minor issue with getting it set up. Come to find out GoDaddy didn't actually own the name and we purchased it from another through GoDaddy. However, they took care of the minor issue in half the time they said it would take to clear up the problem. Sorry, I'm not an IT person....just know that they came through better than they originally stated. Why would you purchase a domain that needed to be negotiated in the first place? There are plenty out there. The name I was wanting to use was something that was fairly common. I ended up with a .com name that I was really happy with for about $15.00. Many people buy up good domain names because they feel it will be wanted by another some day. Most likely you are purchasing something like that...I'd try to find something better. Also, when you check out a name on GoDaddy, it should give you other suggestions if the name you are searching for is not available. Wow, crazy...you must have wanted it real bad to pay that kind of price. Hope it was worth it! My business name was [first name] [last name] Associates....I wanted a domain with a .com using the last name and associates. The name was available but it was up for auction at a huge price so I simply changed to consultants rather than associates...meant the same thing. When purchasing a domain name, nothing is usually set in stone for your business as it's one of the first steps taken. I could have gotten what I wanted for $20K. I settled for the change of the business name and paid $15.00. Kindness is in our power, even when fondness is not. --Samuel Johnson |
